The Ship Inn is a traditional pub which dates back to the 1500s. It was here that Robert Burns found that his poetry was more than just a hobby and the proprietor Charles Hamilton helped fund Burns first publication. We have been a family run business with a hands on approach to service and customer interaction since 1989. The Pub has a strong food operation which serves traditional pub food to a high standard. Food is made on site by our team of chefs using locally sourced fresh ingredients. Booked online, really easy and efficient. Had heard good things about the Ship Inn so our party of 4 plus small dog we're looking forward to lunch. Arrived in a warm vibrant pub/restaurant with lovely open fires, fantastic.... we were then directed to the dog friendly area, a drab, cramped area off the main bar. I was quite cool until I swapped places with my husband and sat beside a warm fan heater. Disappointing.
Good menu, my brother had fish and chips, fish was lovely but chips were poor, my husband and nephew had the large steak pie which they loved. Tasty and fresh with crispy puff pastry, nice veg but poor mash. I had the Haggis neeps and tatties, the turnip was lovely but the haggis was gloopy and very underseasoned and the mash wasn't nice.
The staff were lovely, very professional and friendly (one of them brought our dog some treats which he loved).
Mixed feelings about the food but really disliked the second rate area that they use for people with dogs.

Hadn't been here for a couple of years although we never booked and it was really busy we only waited 5 mins for a table. Food was even better than I had remembered, service was excellent and most of all value for money 10/10. Best Indian in my area at the moment definitely will be back.

The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen offers a warm, family friendly atmosphere. We serve lunch 12-2.30 and dinner 5-8 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and all day from 12-8 Friday,Saturday, and 12.30-8 Sunday. Our bar is open late every night with music and always a great atmosphere. We also do fantastic meal and drinks offers.
Visited our much loved restaurant only to find something not quite right....
The food was not as good, the once amazing lemon meringue pie was disgusting, now the staff did pick up on this and not charge me, but the rest of the meal was average... The staff weren't as happy either.. Was was wrong

Small talk is a small coffee/tea shop at harbourside in Irvine. They provide A really good breakfast and lunch and the cakes are all home made. The view of the harbour is lovely too. The staff are great and provide great service, nothing is too much trouble.

Prompt and helpful service, great menu selection, well priced, clean and well presented dining room. The food was excellent. Probably the best pub food I've eaten in Ayrshire. I enjoyed the chicken tempura. Lightly battered breast goujons with a zesty salad and sweet chili sauce and the deep fried Brie and sweet onion marmalade. To follow an excellent and filling lasagne al forno, a stunning grilled salmon and a classic haddock and chips. Portions just right. Tasty and hot. Well done to all of the team for making a Thursday feel like Friday! So good. Thank you.

My husband and I had lunch at Si today. The food and service were first class! Nicole was the waitress for our table and was very friendly and efficient.
I need a gluten free diet and was delighted that I was able to have fish and chips (with gluten free batter). There were quite a few other gluten free options also.
My husband was very pleased with his lunch and we will both be keen to return.

I went with friend for dinner but had not booked, which was no trouble and manager showed us to a table. We were a few minutes late to take advantage of the evening deal of 2 courses that finished at 6.30 but the waiter asked the chef and he said it was ok so we opted for this menu. The chicken tempura were delicious, very light with side salad and tangy dip. I opted for the beef in ale gravy but asked for boiled potatoes instead of mash which was fine with them. Very tasty not a big portion with piece of puff pastry and root vegetables. My friend chose lasagna which was a good sized portion and she could not eat it all, it was good but not the best I've tasted, think it lacked more tomato sauce? We opted to share a desert (with add on of £2.50) the lemon meringue pie which was very good indeed. All in all a good meal in a lovely restaurant and the service was great too. Would go back.
