Friendly owners - Len and Barbara - clean and quiet B&B - Very nice breakfast with honey produced by their own Bees and eggs by their own chickens! Easy parking and located in some nice countryside. Will likely make a return trip.

The Sorrel Horse Inn is a traditional country pub, with a separate accommodation block. We offer good home made food, real ales, inglenook fire places, exposed beams, car park, large beer garden, childrens play area and much much more. Family run for over 26 years.
Twice we’ve called in for an impromptu Sunday lunch recently and both times we’ve found the food excellent, the staff friendly and very accommodating and the service first rate, even though the place was busy. Can’t think of any negatives, it’s just good food and good friendly, people.

We had six rooms as we were all staying for the HMS Ganges Remembrance Service to scatter our late Dad's ashes at sea. The location is very interesting with the marina and Ganges museum. The hotel is great with lovely rooms, food and drink. They even catered for two vegans superbly well with a great breakfast. Alex and his team were brilliant. Will come back

This hotel is the designated pub for away fans visiting Ipswich for the football. Therefore I would check if Ipswich are playing at home before you book. We only called in for drinks as we were in Ipswich for a football match. Drinks are VERY EXPENSIVE! Things can be a bit rowdy.

On arrival there was plenty of space to park the van. Check in was really quick. My room was really dated with a sink in it like something from the 60’s it was really quite depressing. Bathroom was tiny with a toilet and shower cubicle. I could barely fit in the shower so unless your twiggy you may struggle to fit. I couldn’t wait to get out for a couple of hours. We went to an excellent Indian 7 or 8 mins walk away. When we reluctantly returned we went to the bar which is dimly lit and depressing. It’s the strangest bar I’ve ever been too with barely anything behind it we said forget it and went back to our rooms. Breakfast was average but to be honest by then I just wanted to leave. Wouldn’t want to stay again.

PROS: - Steve was welcoming, and went out of his way to help with any questions or concerns. - The room is thoughtfully decorated with many little touches. The bed is comfy too! Strong, good shower. - It is not terribly far from the town center as well, about 1.2 miles, and I was able to walk both ways. Local buses pass by as well. CONS: - Squeaky floors. Not a problem for me but I felt like I might be disturbing people underneath at early morning or late night. - The only tweak I would actually suggest is for the bathroom flush to be fixed. It requires ridiculously too much pressure to work, very unnatural. For any other accommodation I would have deducted a star because of this alone, but I'm being generous here.

Didn't want to drive back to Bury st Edmunds as we went to a party and wanted to have a drink so booked a triple room on the very top floor of this huge old house, and I'm glad I chose this place. Warm friendly welcome from the owner, comfy beds and good facilities. Breakfast included, which I didn't expect for the price and the house itself is quirky and full of character. Not your average hotel chain decor which is much preferred. Top rooms are up a steep flight of stairs so going to the bathroom during the night was a bit scary so if your mobility isn't too good be aware. But that's the only downside. Everything else was great and if I'm visiting ipswich again I would certainly book here again. Highly recommended.
