Do not be put off by the location in a strip mall. Do not be put off by the order at the counter atmosphere. Do not be put off by the styrofoam dishes. Just try the good. You'll go back!

Everytime i eat there, the food and service is fantastic. I have tried multiple dishes there and they never disappoint. The same guy always ends up waiting on us and he is completely nice and very attentive. My family will go there quite frequently. highly recommend it. their buffet is good as well.

The Spice Pot is located in our former favorite spot, Taj Mahal which recently closed. The new owners changed the decor and the menu! We love the new menu and the buffet is varied and delicious. We don't expect the same old offerings and enjoy the changes in the spice levels as well as the creative and delicious dishes. My husband grew up eating curry in South Africa and would go several times a week if possible. Many things have changed for the better. Do give the Spice Pot a try and you'll love it.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Des Moines!!! I recommend the Chicken 555, Chicken Masala, Garlic Naan and Mango Lassi. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. So yummy! This is going to be my new Thursday night tradition.
