We enjoyed the polenta fries, followed by the chicken wraps and my partner had a steak. Dinner arrived quickly, everything was really good and the drinks were great. Everytime I visit I am impressed with the quality of service we receive. Very professional, knowledgeable staff. My only complaint is that it's a little spendy so we save it for special occassions only.
Where to eat Pub food in Des Moines: The Best Restaurants and Bars

We were pleased to find a Des Moines restaurant with such a large array of seafood options, including fresh oysters (which were delicious)! The interior of the restaurant is pleasant - with many beautiful aquariums. It is a huge space with several levels (good for large parties) but some parts were drafty on a cold winter's day. We were initially seated in the middle but asked to be move to the back room since there was quite a breeze in the middle section. Our server had many years of experience and we valued his recommendations to try the Calamari and Shrimp appetizer and the Seabass main dish. Overall, we found the food to be quite good - but not outstanding. The preparation of the fish was very conventional and the flavor of the Calamari and Shrimp was good but somewhat subdued (we love bold flavors and spice). We don't live in Des Moines and if we returned we'd look forward to trying another restaurant in the city. At the same time, if you're looking for good quality seafood with pretty traditional preparations, this place will not disappoint.

Tried Buzzard Billy's and was deeply unimpressed. We found Fat Tuesdays and were delighted. The sampler is great and the etouffee was creamy and tasty. My absolute favorite is the red beans and rice. The sides are really good and done right. The price is very reasonable and the service has always been lovely. The atmosphere is funky and on weekends they have live music. The last time we went for lunch the place was packed. Skip the posh East Village restaurants and take a jot to Fat Tuesdays. My only criticism is they need to add more beer selections. Des Monies is a serious beer town so a better selection would be nice. Also, we hated the TV blaring sports. I realize the place was packed with men but skip the TV and play some down home music. To all of you who like supporting minority own businesses visit Fat Tuesdays.
