A popular local cafe with a broad menu. Staff was friendly and service was good. I had the Chicken Fried Steak which was with white gravy (as it should be) and mashed potatoes. The dish was well prepared and reasonably priced. While I donât make it out to Grinnell that often, but when I return, Iâll be stopping by Frontier Cafe again.

From the outside this place doesn't look great, but we gave it a try based on the reviews. Glad we did. Nothing fancy, but service was great and food pretty tasty. I had a cheeseburger and husband the tenderloin. Both were good, tenderloin was handbreaded. They had several homemade pies. Try the French silk, pecan, caramel, pecan pie. Yummy!!

Went here for breakfast, suggested by a local. Great little gem, in an old gas station, with exposed brick, pictures on the wall of cartoon characters, other old gas station items. Breakfast was great and the service was fast and friendly. Others have commented about the local clientele, no problems, this is a great little local "joint" and I would definitely go back.
