The Whiskey House is the metro's ONLY Whiskey Bar and Grill! This street-level bar and live music venue is located in the beautiful Prairie Trails Development in Ankeny, Iowa, just minutes from the interstate, nestled right in Ankeny's growing nightlife c
Much like the first time we went to the Whiskey House, I nearly had to beg to be waited on. Last night was worse. The place was less than half full on a Saturday night. I should have seen that big red flag waving in my face. After waiting at the table for 10 minutes, I tracked down a server to see if she would take our order. "Sorry, not my table. I'll see if I can find your server." She obviously couldn't although I him saw waltz by without so much as looking at us. Another 10 minutes. I tracked down the first server again. "Please, can't you take our order?" She did. Wished she hadn't. Not much knowledge of whiskey or cocktails. And it took another 10 minutes to get the drinks for the three of us, including a $25 flight of four cask-strength whiskeys. Five were listed on the menu, I didn't know we had to choose. Apparently the server didn't either. The flight came, nothing was labeled and server didn't know which was which. Food-wise, burgers and fries. Fine. Nothing special by any means.Really like the atmosphere. But lousy service and so-so food. We won't be back.

Longtime Ankeny resident Andrew Martin opened the Cabaret Sports Bar & Grille in 2012. Cabaret has quickly become an Ankeny tradition and its reputation has flourished as the place to meet friends, eat generous all-time American food classics, enjoy an ex
We came after dinner with friends and I was disappointed is the lack of wine selection. Only a few very bad wines to choose from. Needs improvement for sure!!!

I have tried Thunderhead 3 times. I really wanted to like the food, as I really enjoy the atmosphere. However my 3rd time just has to be my last. Sorry, but the food has been very sub-par in my opinion every time. The last time I had halibut, which is not cheap and it was just plain dry. I went ahead and ate it and didn't complain. We had pizza ordered with extra sauce and it came with absolutely no sauce, there were 6 of us in the group and we all looked and couldn't see any sauce. I had to complain on that one so the waitress took it back, the manager came out and tried to argue with us that there was sauce on the pizza? Now I am sorry, but why would they argue something like that? We had 2 pieces, and both were completely dry. It wouldn't have been so bad if we hadn't specifically requested extra sauce. Not no sauce! They did take that off our bill, but by that point I had just resigned myself that I would not be returning. There are so many great places to eat in Ankeny, no reason to waste my money on sub-par food. I can get great food and atmosphere right down the road at Whisky River.
I have been here three times in the last two weeks. Taco pizza is delicious, ask for sour cream, if you like. Burgers are tasty. Appetizers of onion rings and mushrooms are cooked just right and not at all greasy! Quesadillas are delicious also. Fun drink menu.

I've had lunch here several times; usually get a sandwich. Prefer to get YC's onion tanglers as my side instead of french fries. Decent variety of beers on tap. Service is fast & friendly. This was my 1st time for Taco Tuesday. Their shell is the super thick, crunchy deep-fried flour variety and very large. One taco will satisfy most people's appetite. (Reminded me alot of the fried flour tacos Raul's used to serve; cept on steroids)  It came filled to overflowing with taco hamburger, shredded lettuce, cheese & tomatoes.  Of their 2 taco sauces; I prefer the hot. Typical pub type restaurant. The steak salad was good. No good wine (all box wines) on the list which would be ok but the service was terrible.

You probably know what to expect from Applebys. That said this location has consistently pleaded me. Had a server this time round that didn't seem to be quite on his game (not terrible, just not great). Food was fine. They have added affordable options but also seems portions are smaller. Adding the fourth star here for a pretty solid track record at this location.

This was the first time we tried this neighborhood pizza place loved the sauce and thin crust. Fun flavors. One in my group had a sandwich and it was also good but on the smaller side. Cute atmosphere and great service.

Ever since Dennis moved his awesome pizza from Johnston to Ankeny we make the journey for our favorite pizza. We are thin crust lovers and Uptown makes the best. Onion rings are really good too. Everything always served fresh and hot. Service is always prompt and friendly.

We have visited this location twice after many recommendations and were not disappointed! The atmosphere is that of a pizza , wing restaurant with a hint on old class. We have had the pizza which comes in a choice of three crusts, salads, homemade onion rings and garlic cheese bread! Everything is the best of any establishment we have ate at.There is a very nice separated bar area and outside patio.Service was absolutely wonderful on both visitsHighly recommended. Family friendly
