Reviews on European food in Ardersier, Inverness, Scotland. Ardersier (Scottish Gaelic: Àird nan Saor) is a small former fishing village in the Scottish Highlands on the Moray Firth near Fort George, between Inverness and Nairn. Its name may be an anglicisation of the Gaelic "Àird nan Saor", or "Headland of the joiners", one local legend being that carpenters working on the construction of ecclesiastical buildings on the other side of the Moray Firth were quartered here.

Staying in Fortrose and was recommended to go to Sutor Creek, so booked a table as it was a friends birthday.Service was great.Food was fab.The shock was the bill at the end - I think £168 for 4 was expensive and thatâs with a round of drinks (2 of which was soft drinks)

Dispel any images of a place in the style of nearby Leanach Cottage at Culloden Battlefield, this inn has all the attractiveness of a shower block from the outside. We were tipped off by our guesthouse hosts about it's popularity (nearby caravan park, locals and presumably the lack of competition in the area) so we booked a table which was just as well. The car park was full and the restaurant was busy too. (The site may also cater for a public bar - a lean-to for smokers with some coloured flashing lights seemed to be attached to a separate entrance next door). Inside it was a pleasant enough lounge bar with table service, serving standard bar meals. It had a casual atmosphere and the servers had a pleasant manner. We skipped starters and ordered Chicken with Haggis (£14.95) and Scampi with chips (£13.95). These were delivered in a reasonable timeframe considering how busy the place was when we visited. Both dishes had generous portions - the bed of haggis was a meal in itself but add to that the chicken fillet, a baked potato, a piece of corn on the cob, a chopped carrot, peas and a whisky sauce and your looking at a challenge! The next challenge was how to eat the corn on the cob without cob skewers but my wife managed to overcome both issues.I felt the scampi batter was a bit heavy and had been left in the fryer a bit too long but I couldn't criticise the portion size and overall the meal was okay. For dessert we had Sticky Toffee Pudding and Creme Brulee (£4.95 each) and these were tasty. We only added an alcohol-free beer and a gin & tonic to wash it all down which brought our bill to £48.50. Overall a fairly typical bar meal at average prices and it served it's purpose in the circumstances.

The Bandstand Restaurant is a charming restaurant overlooking Nairn beach. The glass fronted restaurant has stunning sea views. Dishes are freshly prepared from locally sourced produce. Lunch and dinner are served daily. Sunday Carvery lunch is very popul
Seven of us stopped in for dinner, walked through the bar area and were seated in the restaurant area with a view of the water. Mussels, burgers, haddock were very good and the wine and beer made for a good evening. Would eat here again.

We had such good food and great service that we ate here three times in three days. The cocktails are wonderful, too. The first two visits were as a couple, no reservation. The third time was with a large group (14) - with a reservation. The service was just as good whether there was just the two of us or the group. We're delighted that all three of your visits to the Classroom were such a success! So much so that we expect you'll be back next time just to visit us!! Thanks for taking the time to post such a great review.

After a long 30-hour day of travel, and evening arrival, our B&B host recommended Star Inn. Simply superb! Wife had very substantial Veggie Tart Salad. Never had something so good and unique. I had macaroni bake. Great portion size, all homemade, glorious on a cool night. Located about 7 miles from Inverness airport. Get off beaten path and try this pub/restaurant. Reasonable prices, great service and food! Located in town of Ardersier.
