Our restaurant is located in the Command building in the Park of Military History Pivka. We serve local dishes with a touch of old military food. In the permanent offer we have excellent military pasulj (bean soup), which will remind you of "good old time
We went there after Military museum tour. Originally we were rather sceptical, as restaurants adjacent to tourist attractions are IMHO rather weak and overpriced. But we gave a try. We enjoyed interior army design which included AA gun. Great, fast service, really nice staff. BTW. They immediately brought water for our dog without any request. We ordered local pljeskavica-hamburger in local bun, which was really delicious. Great food, reasonably priced. We would definitely return.

After a bad experience in one of the TripAdvisors best restorants in Postojna we decided to go to Avio Pub.Professional waiters with proper, positive attitude, moderate prices and good food anytime we are there make this a place to go for us, when others fail. They also have good selection for vegetarians. Could be better, but most places nearby have far worst or nonexistent. All we miss are parking places with a shade as we allways travel with dogs.

Ended up here slightly by accident, as the restaurant we were aiming for appeared to be closed. Friendly brisk service, big portions, cheap prices, tasty food, all good! It's on the edge of a car park, almost hidden under the stairs, you can't see it from the main road, everyone in there seemed to be locals enjoying their food!
What to do and see in Postojna, Slovenia: The Best Places and Tips
It's clear that people go to Postojna for the caves so near or around the caves everything costs much more than in the lower city. All we wanted was a bit of food, some service and that's it. Nothing fancy.I must say, the location itself is a bit off putting. The bar is situated on some repair shops territory. But that's just the visual part. I must mention that toilets are accessible only from outside, so you have to exit the bar, and if it's raining, you will get wet before you enter them. And of course on that day it was raining cats and dogs! The staff was nice, but unfortunately didn't speak a word of English, nor German, nor did she understand the basics of the customer service. For example, when I ordered one burger for two kids I asked her for additional plate. "No, no, we don't have" was the answer. Well, of course they do. But it was a bit of a hassle to sort these things out.About the food: burgers are huge and cheap! That's really the only plus side of the place. Kids can definitely split a burger, adults might even manage to eat the whole thing, although several other folks took half of their burgers to go :) Average burger costs ca. â¬4-6. Drink are relatively expensive though: 0,25l Pepsi is â¬1.8.I'm used to paying with debit/credit card. This place operates with cash only! Big no-no for me.So overall cheap place to eat, but staff could do with a bit more training. After all this is tourist location, consider that when hiring, OK.
