This is one of the two or three El Rodeo in the Lafayette and West Lafayette area. The place is pretty crummy and unattractive. It is almost amateurish but the food is excellent unlike most chain Mexican places. The prices are great too. They are attentive and service is swift. The menu is large with things that are beyond the chain places. It seems authentic to me. I recommend it for the food only. The rib steak was wonderful. There are three versions with different sauces. The carnitas was with large pieces of pork and very good as was a shrimp dish. Portions are large.
Qdoba has a fairly simple and limited menu, but they take all of it seriously, from marinated meats to a real breakfast burrito. If you're used to standard Americanized Mexican fare, expect a little different toppings and fillers such as black beans and cilantro rice. Their queso sauce is awesome. The burritos are large and the wait is usually short. If you can find parking, I htink it's a better choice on Purdue campus than Chipoltle's or Moe's.

If you are looking for an OK mexican quick restaurant, this is your place. The food was just OK. Not great flavors like Chipolte and definitely not the quality of ingredients. You have to like employees that argue back and forth (I don't think in a fun way) and tell you that they like another choice better than what you made. All in all, the burrito bowl was OK, but not great. (skip the quac as it was obiv they used unripe avocados in the making)

My daughter and I visited Sunset Grille this past weekend, we hadnât been there since they switched formats from the Baja Peninsula days to Mexican cuisine but Iâm glad we took a chance. The small restaurant in a former Village Pantry building doesnât look impressive but is clean and quiet inside. We were promptly seated and the waitresses were helpful and attentive if not really informative. My daughter was quite happy to learn that they have about ten vegetarian items on the menu (no lard in the beans, we were told), so a good vegan destination. She had the vegetarian chimichanga and I had the California burrito with barbacoa beef, rice and avocados, but the rest of the menu looked great too. Pretty satisfying portions and the wait wasnât too long; youâll get plenty of chips and salsa in the meantime. Iâm glad they kept some of the former menuâs emphasis on Baja-style and have lobster and shrimp dishes â not your typical Mexican cuisine. If youâre in West Lafayette and want something Mexican away from Purdue campus, then this place is for you. Not cheap but probably no worse than Americanized restaurants like Don Pabloâs or Pepeâs. They have a weekday buffet as well as a strong variety of dishes on the weekends, so weâll be back.

I went here with friends a couple of months ago. My friends ordered the enchiladas, which they said were not particularly good, but I have good food intuition and ordered a beef, beef tongue, and tripe tacos. The beef and beef tongue were to die for --such juicy flavorful meat. The tripe tasted like intense bacon with that extra organ-meat bitter intensity. I dont think I would order the tripe again (though I ate the whole thing at the time), but some people really love it and I'm glad I tried it. Overall, excellent tacos for a very low price. The waitress was very nice and we even got free leftover leche cake at the end of the meal. The dining room is fairly small, and there's telenovella on TV. The restaurant is in an out-of-the-way location near this old gas station but it's a hidden gem. They are open Saturday and Sunday for breakfast.

This dive put many restaurants to shame. Fantastic food. It likely that you will over eat. Good beer options.

You know what you are getting when you go to Chipotles....it has the same quality everywhere in my experience and this is a very good thing. For those who have not been you should try it. It is Mexican food but more than that. They are wonderful for the vegetarian and the fascist vegan.

Freshly made tortilla shells and well-seasoned meats made this stop an excellent choice for a quick and filling dinner. Pile on the extras - top your burrito with enchilada sauce, add guac,, lettuce, sour cream , jalapeno and several other choices....Nothing here is overly hot/spicy. A cold Mexican beer would have made for an excellent meal. Nope, no alcohol served here.

We tried this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed! Delicious tacos (traditional Mexican style), and carnitas that lived up to its description! Braised and tender! We loved the salsa and sides as well! And exceptionally reasonable price-wise. A treat!
