Lovely renovated hotel on the wooded slopes of the Kickelhahn.
Reviewed By surya77Located in beautiful Thuringia, this renovated 1911 hotel is a great find. It stands in the wooded slopes of the Kickelhahn, on a 7 hectare estate. It is perfect for hiking with many trails, including the 20 mins one up to the hunting cabin (Goethe's cottage) where Goethe wrote one of his most famous poems, Wanderer's Nightsong, on the wall, on the night from 6 to 7th September 1783. For those looking for relaxation, the garden is a wonderful sanctuary and the hotel's spa, perfect. The rooms are good and the breakfast also. There is a bar and a restaurant so there is no need to drive to Ilmenau for dinner. In the grounds, near the hotel, stands the Jagdhaus Museum Gabelbach. A little jewel definitely worth a visit. It is one of the best value for money hotels I have stayed at recently. ps don't expect to communicate very much in english!!

Reviewed By PatchWellingIt was my first time in Ilmenau and what a beautiful city in the north-east Germany ??. Being the only ? hotel in town there was no competition. The hotel was a beautiful building setting on the edge of town with underground parking. As a non-speaking guest, the hotel employees were fluent in English. The whole experience was absolutely fabulous. It was a team event and there were around fifty of us in total. Some of us stayed only the night, but at least half was there the whole week. My family suite was larger than average with luxurious bathrooms ?. The bed ? was large and comfortable. The dinner ? buffet was plentiful and tasty ?.????????? The breakfast ? choices were vast, including cooked, cold meat, cereal and wide selections of patisseries.

The hotel offers excellent value for money, the staff are friendly and helpful. The only negative point to mention is that ‘Bushmills 10year’irish whisky was available on our first visits, then unfortunately no longer!.....not sure why this is, although we had wanted to order, but were told it was ‘unavailable’. Perhaps this can be rectified for future visits? Parking spaces are available and the rooms are clean and functional.

Very clean and quiet hotel

Hotel Ilmenauer Hof is located in a spot, very close to the city center, approx. 10min by feet and there are also buses to take you there. The people in reception are very polite, willing to help you any time for everything. Inside this building is also an excellent restaurant "Irodion", where you can dinner at evenings. Finally, Hotel Ilmenauer Hof is distinguished for its very quiet environment, its really complete and very nice breakfast and its cleanliness. I would suggest it to everyone.

Our unique guest house (all our units are housed in bungalows), located on the edge of a vast forest. High above the village Manebach in the middle of impressive landscape of the Thuringian Forest. Our bungalows are equipped with private shower, toilet and television. Two of our apartments and one bungalow have their own kitchen.

Extremely pleasant stay, convenient location
Reviewed By Karl SI have stayed at the Pension am Kirchplatz a couple times now on business, and enjoyed it each time. The location couldn't be better for me, the room is clean, and I sleep well. The morning breakfast is just right for me, some meats, toast, yogurt, usually an egg of some sort, etc. Good value as well. The only relatively minor negative is that since there is no 24 hour front desk staff, it's a bit of a hassle to check in if one arrives in the evening. Staff English is marginal, but if one remembers a few words of high school German, all is well; and there's always google translate in case of difficulty! Definitely recommended, except those times when I want a room there...

Stay comfortable and reasonably priced in a great location with proximity to the centre and various attractions in Ilmenau. Quiet rooms and a rich breakfast buffet invite you to relax. Do not forget: in Ilmenau are the skies always blue.
Great value for money
Reviewed By Lode VLocated at the bottom of the hill just outside the city centre, this place is great for exploring both Ilmenau and the beautiful nature surrounding it. Our family had used two rooms including the spacious Studio. Beds are comfortable, bath rooms tiny as it should be. Nice breakfast that has everything one can wish for in this price category.

Basic maar in orde en erg schoon
Reviewed By wolframhartVanwege afspraken in de regio hier 1 nacht verbleven. Ligging, buitenkant en inrichting van het hotel erg mooi en sfeervol. De 2 persoonskamer was erg basic, weinig aankleding en wat kaal maar vooral heel erg klein. Wat in positieve zin echt opviel was de grote mate van properheid, de kamer en badkamer waren uitermate goed schoon. De douche was zonder meer perfect met flinke waterdruk en er waren heerlijk zachte grote handdoeken beschikbaar. Het is een prima hotelkamer voor een enkele nacht. Het ontbijt in buffetvorm was uitstekend, uitgebreid, heerlijke dingen en doorlopend voldoende aangevuld. Vriendelijk personeel. Klein minpuntje is dat de (mini-) televisie enkel Duitse zenders heeft. Misschien dat er weinig internationale gasten komen maar toch minstens 1 niet-Duitse zender zou wel fijn zijn, vooral ook omdat er geen hotelbar is en het hotel erg afgelegen ligt. Je moet voor wat vermaak dan weer de auto in of direct na het eten gaan slapen.
