We had to take our car in to be worked on. We live 1 hr away from Elgin and it was going to take at least 3 hrs. The wonderful shop manager took us to Taqueria for lunch. It is a very clean place, the food is AMAZING authentic mexican, I had the taco salad with real ground beef and Hubby had a chicken chimichanga with real pieces of chicken. The waitress was very friendly. When we finished our food we went outside to wait for our ride back to the dealership. It was a cold day. The waitress came outside and told us we could come back to our table and wait for our ride.

Multiple visits to this restaurant and very consistent results!Great Meal Presentation. Food perfectly displayed on the plate.Authentic Mexican Food which always trumps the Chain Establishments.Pricing Extremely competitive to tough to beat.Carry out and sit down. Reasons to consider both.More of a generic store restaurant than a colorful experience. With that said, I am here for the food and the price over atmosphere.

Cafmina's Mexican Restaurant is located on the southeast corner of Randall Rd. and Fletcher Dr. It is a stand-alone restaurant with plenty of parking and easy access to and from Randall Rd. Carmina's Mexican Restaurant is a casual Mexican restaurant with a traditional Mexican menu, a full bar (with Margaritas) and a patio for those really nice days. We happened to be there with my grandkids, so once seated - which was very quickly, we ordered the Carmina's Platter appetizer for them and us. It included a combination of mini tacos, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, quesadillas and mini burritos. There was more than enough for the grandkids to choose from, as the portion seemed very ample. Since we were there for lunch, the two of us decided to share the chiles rellenos which was two poblano peppers, that were stuffed with mexican cheese, then breaded and deep fried. The peppers were topped with ranchero sauce, and served with rice and beans. Our server was efficient. The prices were reasonable. Most importantly, the food tasted good.

Honestly, I sort of avoided the place thinking it was a dive. But I was wrong and judging it from the surrounding area. The food was delicious. I recommend the beans (not vegetarian), guacamole and mashed potatoes. The roasted chicken (pollo asado) was juicy and good. I will consider taking out from here the next time I am in the mood for some chicken.

Very nice restaurant hidden in a strip mall. Food is excellent. Tastes very good. My only complaint is I wish the food was a little warmer. They were extremely busy, but I got Quesidillas that did not have the cheese melted. Free chips and salsa if you eat there. Always very busy. Have daily specials along with everyday specials.

There are many Mexican restaurants in Elgin but this is the best by far. Friendly staff and the food is amazing! Love their tacos especial and burritos then washing it down with horchata!

Plenty to too much food for a slightly above average price. With that said, you may be paying for the atmosphere to make up the difference in price.Seating is tight.Waitresses were busy and as a result slightly inattentive to our table of 9.Middle of the Road for me as a Restaurant. In the Take it or Leave it category. Have been here several times with friends and my feeling remains the same. I donât pick the Restaurant they do.Good food and only will be back when invited by someone else who has a higher opinion of this restaurant.
