This is a true family restaurant from days gone by. Friendly wait staff, huge and varied menu - something for everyone- and huge portions. You will not go away hungry here. In fact, you will probably need a âto goâ box. Most lunch and dinner selections come with a free cup of soup. I had the French onion and it was yummy with lots of cheese served in a brown crock. My husband had the matza ball soup which was also delicious. Every meal is served with a bread basket with a variety of breads and muffins. For the main course, I had the open face Reuben with coleslaw and 1000 island dressing and my husband had the chicken sandwich. Enormous portions at moderate prices. You could eat here every day of the year and never eat the same thing twice.

I am still in shock over my dinner experience at Yanniâs last night.Waitress was inefficient, slow and unhelpful when the empty wine glasses showed huge sediment piles. The pricing was ridiculously high and unreasonable given what you received!!Loud, insensitive staff, slow service, nauseating food quality!!! An absolutely horrible experience!!STAY AWAY!!!BTW - if you wish to enjoy true authentic delicious Greek cuisine in a wonderful caring environment reasonably priced, run to Psistaria!!Check out their website: psistaria.comHereâs their address!! The food is delicious!! I so so regret going to Yanniâs!Psistaria4721 W Touhy AveLincolnwood, IL 60712Bye bye!!

I grew up in Glenview, and we used to get Poor Boys. That sandwich changed my life back then! I recently went back to Glenview for the first time in about 20 years. Glenview was unrecognizable, and not in a good way, but what redeemed the visit was a trip to Spiro's! My sister and I each got a Poor Boy and it was the best thing I'd had in years. The owner, Peter Nestos, grew up in our neighborhood and he was still behind the counter. He couldn't believe we weren't getting Bombers, which we had never had. So he gave us a mini-Bomber. Oh my gosh I have no idea all of what was in there but it was fantastic. Let's be honest, the ambience is a bit lacking. But the food and the people who serve it are well worth the visit.

We returned to Avli and had another great meal. The Saganaki is always tasty ($8.50). The DIN Beet Salad (13), Tzatziki (7) and Spetzofai (11) were also very good per my fellow diners. The Zucchine chips (11) seems a bit expensive though they were tasty. My wife always enjoys the mini rack lamb (29). The Chicken Souvlaki (16) and Poseidon Plate (24) and Beef Souvlakia (22) were all very good. Drinks were $10-16 each (Bacardi $16). All in, the bill for 5 guests was $267.60 plus tip, which feels a bit heavy but the food is always great. Service was good overall. The server forgot an order of broccoli despite being reminded once.Parking on the street is easy.

Wild Pita is a casual dining restaurant that is family owned and run. Very good food and the sauces are outstanding. I usually have the chicken shawerma or whatever the special of the day is. Very fresh and well prepared with good flavor. Friendly people and very casual, relaxed atmosphere.

Established in 1981, Mykonos Greek Restaurant has grown to become a leader in traditional Greek Cuisine. Owner Dimitrios "Jimmy" Merageas was born in Sparta, Greece. Growing up and watching his grandmother and mother cook delicious authentic Greek food in
Letâs say we came home with leftovers. I was looking for a Greek restaurant in the Chicago suburbs rather than fighting the headache of downtown Chicago traffic and parking. We were seated quickly and ordered the combination plate. You know, a little of everything only it was a lot of everything. We also ordered the Saganaki(flaming Greek cheese). Ok, the Saganaki was not as good as the one at the dearly departed Parthenon Restaurant. In fact it was a bit chewy. The combination plate, however, was good and filling. Even the roasted potato was really well prepared. Usually thatâs sort of an afterthought. Not here. We washed this down with a 1/2 carafe of Roditis wine. Service was very good and attentive. Itâs not a huge restaurant yet itâs bright and airy. For the record they have valet parking.

While visiting Chicago, a friend took us to this restaurant, which we had not heard about because it is not included in âChicagoâ Greek restaurants. I insisted on picking up the tab because it was the most outstanding Greek food I have ever eaten!! We had shared 4 appetizers and each got different entrees. ALL was excellent! The price was low considering the high quality. The top Greek pics do not even compare!!! Do not be deterred by the little extra time it takes to drive to the amazing place. I promise it is well worth it!
