Home of the original XL NY Slice. Since 1956, Sbarro has been serving the XL NY Slice. Starting with made-daily hand stretched dough, San Marzano style sauce and topped with 100% Whole Milk Mozzarella cheese.
We needed a rest stop on a recent road trip. Decided to get a bit of lunch. My husband, who wasn't very hungry, got a small serving of mac n'cheese, which he said was OK. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and mushroom pizza. They warmed it up in a toaster oven (barely). The sauce was awful and the French bread crust tasted nothing like a pizza crust. I ate some of the toppings and a bite or two of crust and pitched the rest. A waste of $12!!!
On Jan 14 2016, my family drove from Iowa to Chicago. On the road, the car's glass water nozzle was frozen that our journey was much delayed. At 5:30 pm, we are about one hour away from Chicago, and we stopped for dinner. We stepped in the mall, ordered two bowels of one-dish entry from this panda, and a piece of pizza for kid from another seller. When we finished, I said usually Chinese restaurant have hot water, maybe that can thaw the frozen nozzle. So, my husband left table to ask for a cup of hot water from the clerk. I saw the girl taking a cup and about to get water from where my husband pointing to, and then a woman standing by said something to the girl, and she shrugged like she couldn't help. Then my husband returned and I asked what's wrong. he said, "I don't know." I got up and asked the woman. She said it was the regulation, we might get burnt. Then I quarreled with her for about 5 min. No matter how I promised we would not burn ourselves or anybody else, she just refused to give us the water. And during the process, the hot water tap kept running in the kitchen as everybody could see. Then I asked her name. She said: "Luby, and my manager's name is Francis (maybe, I don't quite remember). Yes, you can complain." You should see the expression on her face, so joyful that I had to brace myself so hard not to slap her. Then we left, and my husband took some warm water from the bathroom, and no wonder it didn't work. That day was really cold. By writing this here, I am not asking for anything. I just want to give some suggestions to Panda Express: Keep hiring many Lubys, and set these as the principles of customer service: If the customer is angry, be angrier than her; if the customer speaks loudly, speak louder than her. It doesn't matter at all if customers are happy; Luby is the only God. Keep ruling your customers, and you will conquer the world! What I can do is never going to Panda Express to avoid being disgusted, and sharing my story with you before the world is taken by Lubys!
You're trying to hard on the inventory control. It is a very poor optic to come in at high noon and see either empty food bins or bins that appear to contain less than one serving. Kinda done with this place.
Very average. The egg rolls were nothing special, fried noodles a little different then I've ever had them but the vegetables in sauce that went with them was good, garlic pork was good. It was the closest restaurant to our hotel and I was hungry - it did the trick.

I took my mom to DeKalb over the weekend for a show at the Egyptian and she was sad that her old favorite Chinese restaurant had closed many years ago after they had left town. So we decided to try a "new" one, that had actually opened shortly after they left town around 25 years ago. There is a traditional front walk up to a red door in the front, however since most of the parking is in the back they added side doors to the lobby. Upon entering we discovered the front door had actually been "secured" with a big piece of wood wedged in the handles. Odd, but OK as long as fire code is maintainedWe were the first in for dinner on Friday except for an older gentleman sitting in the first booth by the kitchen. He seemed to be family judging by the interactions with the staff and was obviously enjoying his meal and that is a good sign.We ordered won ton soup and spring rolls to start. Both were fabulous. We perhaps lucked out by visiting this time of year when all vegetables are fresh and flavorful, but the home made won tons and spring roll skins were great.I had spicy pork and mom had chow mein. No choice of rice but the white rice was just fine. Again the quality of the dishes was super and we had enough to leave with leftovers. So I guess we have a new favorite.
