El taconazo taquerias for us are the best Mexican restaurants for sopes. The hand made thick tortilla is never burnt or under cooked. The green salsa is quite tasty and the asada tacos are delicious as well.Best of all el Taconazo Jr. delivers so every weekend we get to enjoy them.

Easy to miss on busy North Ave. Tiled countertop (no tables). The homemades sauces and fresh fried chips excellent, they gave samples of the special drinks, we liked the Tamarindo & Horchata. My Quesadilla had Pastor Pollo with pineapple, very tasty, Portions generous. Parking a bit tricky but side street worked well of us.

Based on the food and the reasonable prices, I would have probably given this five stars with pleasure. But the noise level was a serious negative for our experience. The low, flat, hard-surfaced ceiling, and hard-surfaced walls parallel to each other make for noises bouncing around the room with nothing to soften them. There were only two other families in the restaurant when we were there, but it sounded like a ball game, and my wife and I found it hard to talk. This is a shame because in this area, near Oak Park and River Forest, there is room for a good quality and reasonably priced Mexican restaurant, and this could be it. They offer a range of choices in hotness of sauces; I had the spiciest - the habanera sauce - and it was fierce, but still did not overwhelm the other flavors. The beef was well prepared, as was the chicken. And the chicken soup that I had was quite extraordinary, filled with chicken and a rich broth, and vegetables and even slices of apple! A very good experience that could be much better if they can find a way to dampen the noise level.

Mariaâs has been a staple in the Rosemont and Elmwood Park/Chicago area for decades. They are a go to for a nice night out for outside patio dinning although I wish the smoking outside was controlled more. Inside is fabulously decorated with color, personality and expression. Free: table chips and salsa (mild and not available) Note: guacamole is very good but very pricey they call it âmarket price avocadosâ we did it once thinking what can a side of guacamole cost like meh, $6.50? And nope we were charged $13. Try: chicken soup (not the red broth) great even as a LARGE bowl for a meal - served on certain days of the week. Chicken burrito suizo is a go to must for me. Served with rice and beans, garnish of orange and or radish. Soup or salad comes with. Drinks are extra. Dessert: fried ice cream with whipped cream They are known for making exquisite knock you out of this world adult beverages. I am not a drinker, did have one once, whoa, it was flavorful, large and not stingy on the good stuff... always be safe and have a driver for you! Booths and tables available. Can accommodate small and large parties including handicap people. Live music table-side is offered but not required. Tips are accepted for this. Service varies. We have had excellent, attentive and friendly servers and sometimes we have very sarcastic servers etc. just like anywhere else. Can do take out or dine in. Some services online offer the online delivery feature but I live near by so that does not apply to me. Parking: free street and lot parking.Overall/conclusion: Bottom line is they are consistent. You know what you are getting every time you walk in. You want that in food and a place you will return to or recommend to friends, family or business people. If you had a bad experience somewhere else, good food and comfy booths await you in a familiar setting. We go for lots of occasions. Try them at Halloween, they decorate super cute!
