After reading the reviews I decided to try this place and took some friends with me. We had two or three different items on the menu. First off, this is a nice clean little place and the people are friendly. The food is fresh, but that is all I can say about it. I am used to more spice in my Mexican dishes and to be honest all of the things we tried were a little bland. There was no spicy heat at all. They do not serve ground beef.

Our son, an SIU student, recommended this place, and neither he nor the cooks disappointed us. My wife and I were impressed with the standards side dishes of rice and refried beans--the beans were the best we've had in years. Great pork and ground beef fillings, and for aa $1 upcharge you can enjoy grilled chicken or steak filling . Very authentic dishes. Also a winner are the fajitas, which include grilled tomatoes, a nice addition. The prices are reasonable, too.

We were on campus, and we needed a quick place to eat. I've eaten there before. They have very good food. It's very quick. The prices are reasonable. We were there at lunch it and it was very busy. Parking was tricky. We will be back.

Casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, good food, and FAMOUS for our margaritas!! Kitchen closes early, but the bar stays open until 2am as needed Mon-Sat!
Midland is one of my husband and my favorites. I love ordering lunch and a beer on the weekend. They have frequent specials, and menu items from nachos and quesadillas, to burgers and fries, to pizza. I enjoy a grilled cheese or some fried mushrooms. There's a large seating area inside, as well as a covered outdoor area. It can get busy though (it has a large local following... people love it!) The employees are friendly and helpful, but around lunch and dinner they can get very busy, so you may have short wait if you need another drink or something. But that's understandable. Occasionally you may have to wait to be seated, but you can order a drink at the bar while you wait. All in all, it's a local favorite with a lot of options and charm.

Upon on a recommendation from my sister, I took my granddaughter, Abbi, to Don Sol's for lunch before pedicures. We both enjoyed our choices. I must say, I loved the refried beans. The wait staff was attentive but not obnoxious. I would highly recommend Don Sol Mexican Grill.
