Alton is a city on the Mississippi River in Madison County, Illinois, United States, about 15 miles (24 km) north of St. Louis, Missouri. The population was 27,865 at the 2010 census. Riviera Maya is a staple Alton restaurant. Well really El Mezcal was the staple, but Riviera Maya replaced it a couple of years ago, but they are pretty much the exact same restaurant. It's the same menu you can find at every American-style Mexican restaurant in the Midwest, so if you like that, you'll like Riviera Maya.

Ugh!!!! This was the WORST service we have had in a long time. The waitress never refilled sodas...just pushed margaritas. The first two items on the menu, I was told they did not have, so I settled for chicken nachos. They were barely o.k. My daughter specifically asked if the quesadillas had fresh mushrooms and was told yes! They were canned and rubbery. They did remove them from her bill.We will not return or recommend this restaurant!!!!

Service was attentive, seated right away and waitress was very timely. Food was prepared fast and served hot. Food was tasty. They even accommodated my particular request for whole beans rather than refried as my side dish. Dad enjoyed his enchiladas and I enjoyed by tacos de carne asada with pinto beans. They even serve their beer with frosty mugs, nice touch! They have a small patio which I love to mention because I am always looking for places to sit outside.

Their drive through is very slow as they usually have only one person taking orders, collecting money, and handing out food. I ordered bean burritos with no sauce and onions. I like dipping my burritos in mild sauce. They limit how many sauces you can have for each item. This is rediculous! I am not going back to this location. The last time I came through they forgot my cheese on my burritos and I did not complain. I saved them cost on removing the sauce on the inside plus saved then on onions. I am not petty with you, please don't be petty with me.
