We started with a fairly mediocre hot and sour soup (without the sour). We proceeded to an average but sour broccoli with garlic sauce (too much vinegar) and tofu with minced veggies. That last dish was OK though nothing special. Service, though, was quite good.
My first review was about their mongolian beef. It was great. This time, expanded a bit. Their prices may seem a bit high but they give you larger portions. 8 crab rangoon for instance - large, crispy, delicate and not overly filled. Sizzling rice soup - ok the rice won't sizzle but the rice cake that comes with adds a lot. Even fried rice: chock full of really fresh veggies. Actually the soup's veggies were fresh too and the soup itself was not overly salty as some can be. And I had to do the beef again - that slight charred smoky flavor is something to savor. Will be back and report again!

Seeker of the authentic culinary experience finds a variety of world cuisine in Evanston. Unfortunately, Koi serves a version of Asian food, somewhat adapted for American clientele that is diluted on flavor, and presentation. In our particular case, the service matched the underwhelming food in being numb and uninterested in the guest experience.Iâm so sorry to hear your unfortunate dining experience at koi. I apologize for the service team not helping you making the right food order. We have been service the community for over 15 years and proud of serving authentic Chinese food and fresh sushi. This is a 3.5 Star review.Been a long time since I'd come here and had an enjoyable lunch recently. They have lunch specials that includes soup and egg rolls. The soup was actually tasteless sadly, the egg rolls were surprisingly good and I don't even usually like them. My entree Basil leaves with Shrimp and it was pretty good. Friend got the Vermicelli dish but it was with spaghetti noodles instead so that was very disappointing. She did like the Lychee Mango Smoothie

A couple buddies of mine enjoy lunch here and I've been probably a half dozen times and find it to be a reliable, tasty lunch for a modest price.I usually enjoy the Orange Chicken on white rice..... Not particularly healthy but hot and flavorful. I also enjoy the Kung Pao Chicken which is fairly spicy and a bit healthier since it has stir fried chicken and veggies. Our health conscious pal enjoys the brown rice with a double serving of mixed vegetables.... Usually broccoli, zucchini, and some others cooked in a nice brown sauce. This isn't haute cuisine but a fine spot for a hot, quick lunch served by a group of friendly, helpful servers. Decent options at a good price!
