For several years, even before the current owner took over the business, my wife and I have noticed something curious while we were driving past the Plano Cafe on Highway 34 between Plano and Sandwich on Sunday mornings on our way to my mother's house. The restaurant was always crowded. There hardly was a vacant space in the parking lot. Nothing has changed. The place is as popular as the McDonald's down the street. And now they have installed a drive-through to accommodate for people who like to eat in their cars at 60 miles per hour. We left our condominium in downtown Chicago early so we could have breakfast. We always have been impressed with the food at the Plano Cafe, so much so that we have celebrated Mother's Day there on two occasions. But the breakfast menu is special. I am partial to Eggs Benedict, a classic offering with two poached eggs on an English muffin with Canadian bacon, Hollandaise sauce and hash browns. Add a side of corned beef hash and a toasted pecan roll with a big glass of fresh squeezed orange juice and I'm in heaven. My wife prefers Belgian waffles or cinnamon French toast with sausage, an English muffin and black coffee. Service is always fast and friendly. I noticed that one critic complained that "because it was crowded doesn't make it OK." Do you stop at a restaurant where there are no cars in the parking lot? In my experience, there is a reason why a restaurant is popular. It's the food.

Dearborn's Cafe has added a new and welcome taste to the culinary community in Kendall Country and its surroundings. Located in a remodeled old Pizza Hut building at 220 Indian Springs Drive in Sandwich, Illinois, just off US. Route 34 between Plano and Sandwich, some local food lovers have created a popular breakfast/lunch restaurant that specializes in breakfast but also offers delicious specials six days a week. Open from 7 to 3 daily except Tuesday (closed), Dearborn's Cafe specializes in breakfast fare such as Eggs Benedict with corned beef hash, vegetable omelets with raisin toast and hash browns, eggs with pancakes and hash browns and sausage, biscuits and gravy. Fried chicken is highly recommended for lunch. The daily lunch specials are outstanding-- home-made meatloaf on Monday, pot roast on Wednesday, chicken pot pie on Thursday, deep fried haddock on Friday, fried chicken on Saturday and roasted turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes and vegetables, soup or salad, on Sunday. It's an old school, traditional style of home cooking that the fast-food set dearly misses.
We checked out this place, after seeing a friend's FB posting. Good sized building, serving coffee, food and wine. We visited for coffee, which was delicious as well as the blueberry muffin. They serve breakfast until 11, and lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is so welcoming, featuring a couple of fireplaces, comfy chairs, offering an attractive and welcoming atmosphere.

So whenever me and my sweet grandson head for Yorkville, we usually always stop at Panera for lunch. He always has the childs Mac n Cheese meal and literally eats every bite. Which he did this time as well. I also get the same thing. The turkey/bacon/avocado (half) sandwich with a bowl of broccoli/cheddar soup. The food was good, but the soup wasnât very hot. (which I hate). The Mac n Cheese wasnât very hot either, but my grandson didnât seem to mind at all. I do think theyâre very overpriced. It cost me almost $20 just for the two of us. Thatâs crazy to me. Especially since thereâs very little Mac n Cheese in the dish. He could definitely eat way more than what they put into it. Itâs kind of a rip off. But, what can ya do?

Everything is prepared fresh...Menu will satisfy any appetite. Try the Chicken Salad sandwich...to die for !! The double yolk eggs are an unexpected special treat Highly recommended.
