We have eaten at this Steak n Shake twice now as we usually stay in Effingham on our way south every winter. Its a sit down burger joint with great burgers and crunchy thin fries and delicious shakes. Itâs an inexpensive place to eat and good food. But, as Iâm dieting, I was shocked by the calorie content of their menu items. I enjoyed my meal and made the best choices I could, but the calories in the food may prevent us from enjoying this restaurant in the future.

We found Popeyes a while back, but we always forget about it, due to it being out of the way. We love the chicken which is unique compared to other chicken places. The service is prompt and the chicken is juicy. We have not had any issues with this restaurant. The prices are average for chicken. The cajun flavor is awesome. The cajun gravy on the mashed potatoes is great, along with the rice. The chicken does not have any cajun flavor to it, if you worry about spicy chicken. They do have spicy available if you want it though.This location is out of the way, and sometimes very busy also due to it's location which is inside the truck stop along the frontage road. The truck stop stays busy, and sometimes it is hard to find a table to sit down at, most of the tables located inside are for 2 people so a family might have problems. There is always a flow of people around the truck stop, so if you get nervous around crowds this probably is not the location to visit. The condition of the store is a little run down, and could use quite a bit of cleaning. But the store runs 24/7 so it's probably hard to do much cleaning.
