The restaurant is nicely decorated in a up-scale style, reminicent of the art deco 1920's era. The chairs were comfortable and the bar room seemed inviting. Everything was clean. They could use shades on the upper windows. People facing the windows had to deal with the sun in their eyes.I ordered a Derby Mule ($15) which tasted like a whiskey sour, but came in one of the frosted copper mugs I love. The others shared a bottle of wine which was too dry for their taste and then another blend which was better. My entree was a small Waldorf salad topped with 3-4 tasty grilled shrimp (about $20). Quite satisfactory. The crusty bread and butter were good too.My husband said his steak was very good, but I was amazed at the tiny piece of meat for about $29-$39. The poor thing sat all alone in the middle of an empty white plate. No sides, no garnish. All sides, soup, and salad are priced separately. My friend allowed me a taste of her brussle sprouts which were okay, but not nearly as tasty as those I'd had in Geneva a few days earlier. My husand's huge baked potato arrived looking like a small loaf of bread. It was accompanied by cute little dishes of sour cream, cheese, and maybe butter. I was most disappointed with the desserts ($10 each). Our carrot cake was huge, but also damp and heavy. My husband and I each had a sliver and brought the rest home, only to throw it out after tasting it again the next morning. The other couple shared a huge hunk of chocolate cake and gave me a sliver to taste. It was bland and not worth the calories either. Our server was very nice. There were, however, long stretches when we didn't see him, though the restaurant was mostly empty. Over all, the experience not worth the drive and hefty bill. Our friends love the place and treated us to dinner for our anniversary. I thank them for their kindness and wonderful company, but this place was not for me.

Terrible. We've actually never had a good meal here, but went there last night because the other couple requested it, I suppose because it was their monthly 40% off night. The place was jammed. I give the waitresses credit, they did their best, and I suppose the bartender did too, but when you have the dining room filled to capacity and the bar fairly full as well, one bartender just can't handle it. We waited 25 minutes for our drinks. Worse than that, their AC was either not working properly or is woefully inadequate. The temperature in the bar and dining room had to be over 80 degrees. As for the food, I had read the reviews so wasn't surprised that the salad was blah - not bad, just blah. But the t-bone steak I was served (having requested "medium rare, closer to rare than to medium") was a charred piece of shoe leather. I knew I was in trouble when I had to struggle to cut the first bite. It was simply a well done steak. No excuse for that. To be fair, I did not complain because it was the first time we were meeting the other couple and I did not want to make the dinner awkward. Under ANY other circumstance I would have sent it back instantly. Given the quality of the meal and delay of service, I wasn't confident that I would have gotten anything better anyway. To be fair I will say that we were given a free round of drinks later on - whether because of the delay or because the other couple are "regulars," I don't know. And also, the others in our party were satisfied with their meals, especially the lamb chops. But there is no excuse for the lack of staffing which causes such delays, or for the poor air conditioning. We'll never go back.

I know this is a chain restaurant (about Texas and the Texas vibe) but this place just seemed even more contrived than a chain should be and like it was trying too hard, if that makes any sense. Two work colleagues and I sat at the bar on a weeknight to get a meal after work. The bartender lady was very nice and accommodating. I noticed that she seemed to know several other patrons as if they were regulars. Well nice. I avoided the heavy calorie meals by opting for a barbecue chicken breast with rice and vegetables. My meal was lukewarm. It turned me off.
