Ben to Jerusalem restaurant 3 previous times. Gave a good review earlier-but this was a terrible experience.First the sauce with the appetizer was almost nonexistent- about 1 tablespoon each I requested more and was charged for it. Owner came around during meal asked about food I told Him the Lamb was grizzly- He replied that it had a little grizzle in it and left. At checkout He again asked about food I responded that the Chicken was over cooked and dry ( which it was burnt up) He proceeded to argue with me and told me I was wrong. I told him my wife tells me Iâm wrong sometimes but I donât have to come back here and I will not -Iâve never had an owner argue with me and I was not nasty just truthful it was terrible and he treated me terribly and I will not be back

Founded in 1980 by Tony & Loreece Haddad, owned by Andy and Rita Speck.
We had our first experience at Haddad's Downtown for lunch. The staff is extremely personable, attentive, and proud of their cuisine. We decided to order the Haddad's Feast for two so we could get a good taste of their specialities. The platters came with enough food to feed four people! Everything was very tasty with just the right about of spices. The cabbage roll is not mushy like you see in so many other restaurants serving Lebanese cuisine. The flavor was excellent. The falafel and hummus were top notch. The tabouli is heavenly with a hint of onion and lemon. Both the gyro and chicken shwarma were excellent. We were provided with tahini, a wonderful homemade garlic sauce, and tzatzik. On top of that, our server brought us a basket of homemade potato chips that were crispy and flavorful. After a conversation with both of the owners, we were given a taste of the Italian beef which is probably the best in Peoria.Come to downtown and give Haddad's Downtown a try for lunch, carry out, or catering. I don't think that you will be disappointed.

I went here on a recommendation for Lebanese cuisine; unfortunately, this was not the correct restaurant. There is a Haddad's Downtown, which has a terrific looking menu, but alas I mistakenly went here. This is a little hole in the wall restaurant, which many times are good, but this was mediocre at best. I had a chicken shawarma pita, and it was overfilled with some sort of dressing which made the pita soggy, and it just fell apart in my hands. The meat didn't taste fresh, nor did it look like it was cut from a spit as the shawarma I have had in the past. The two people that were working there were super friendly and pleasant and gracious hosts. The food was quite inexpensive for the amount that I received.
