I believe this place has the best deli sandwiches in the Quad Cities area. I've been here many time and have yet to go away disappointed. It's a small place so I really don't want to encourage you to go, but in all fairness, I'd love to share this venue with you because it's so delicious.

The Downtown Deli, located at 330 N. Main Street in downtown Davenport, (the corner of Main and W. 4th Street---kitty corner from St. Anthony's Church and across from the Davenport Public Library) is a great place for breakfast or lunch. They serve, coffee, hot cocoa, toast, juices and a selection of breakfast sandwiches. Their lunch menu features a myriad array of deli sandwiches, soups and salads. My favorite sandwich is their Italian beef, topped with Swiss cheese (any cheese of your choice) served with au ju on a luscious bread roll. The chili is very tasty as is their chicken tortilla soup. The atmosphere is friendly and the place is clean. There is a side room available for meetings and small get-togethers. The deli also caters. The box lunches are very good and you can choose what items to be included. They are open Monday thru Saturday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Closed Sundays. The owner said he is strongly considering being open evening hours beginning late spring 2014. I hope he does open for the evening as the food is great and it would be nice to have another choice for dinner.

I live right down the street from here. It smells delicious in our neighborhood. The fresh bread, the chocolate chip cookies, the spice cake. I love it. You will love it if you walk down the street in the middle of the night as they bake fresh goods for the next day, but if you come here for lunch...expect to be sorely disappointed. They don't serve lunch here. You'll need to go to their actual store on 18th Avenue (just a mile up the road) to actually eat all the delicious smells! Enjoy!
