On the day we moved into town 15 years ago someone suggested spizzico's. Despite Chicago's reputation for deep dish, some of us like thin crust. This is the perfect crispy, zesty thin crust pizza. Over the years we've tried many of the local options. None compare with Spizzico's!

Armand's closed the original restaurant and never regained the consistent quality they used to have. can't recommend them anymore because you never know which pizza will show up - a great crisp crust beauty or a soggy mess.

I am a native born Chicagoan (though I live overseas), and I grew up with old school Chicago-style deep dish pizza in the 70's and 80's. This was back when there were no chains, and all the Chicago legends that you see in several locations -- Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, etc. -- had only 1 or 2 restaurants. Many of those individual places are long gone or became watered down as they branched out, but some legends like Pequod's and My Pi are still around...but are far away from the West suburbs, where I stay when I visit. And then some greats, like Geppetto's, have simply gone downhill. Having ate them all for decades, I am admittedly a bit of a snob when it comes to deep dish pizza. I know what real Chicago-style deep dish-pizza is supposed to be, and I am unashamedly picky. When I return home from overseas, I want the good stuff. At the recommendation of my brother, I tried Paisan's, and soon afterwards found myself scolding him for abandoning our childhood pizza values that I thought we both held dear. He countered by chastising me for clinging to an ideal that he claims doesn't exist anymore -- except for Pequod's -- he told me to get over it...the only ones who care anymore are people like me....people who grew up in Chicago 30-40 years ago, but who moved elsewhere and expect things to be the same when I visited. I know where to get good pizza in the city, but it would be nice not to have to drive that far to get it.That search is over. Old World Pizza is genuine old-school Chicago-style deep dish pizza. Just off the northwest corner of Harlem and North, it took 45 minutes to make, with a crust nearly 2 inches high (but just enough to hold up the bottom), but this was the pizza I was looking for. I have found it; I am home.Contrary to my brother's claims, I know I am not alone. If you crave the original Chicago-style deep dish pizza that was more prevalent before the emergence of the hipster period of salmon and kale tacos on a quinoa tortilla, this is the place for you.Thank you, Old World Pizza, for keeping this kind of pizza alive. I am fat and happy and smiling.

This place is in the neighborhood so it is convenient. Had a pizza from there last Saturday and then ordered pasta on Sunday. The Pizza, 18 inch cheese and sausage was delicious. Perfect amount of cheese and cooked properly. We had leftovers for a few days. The pasta, baked rigatoni, was only fair. It did not have a lot of flavor. The amount of food was plentiful but wished for more flavor than food. Also had the garlic bread, I would skip that all together next time.

While we came ostensibly for the gluten free options, the overall food experience was wonderful. My GF loved the separate menu and all the choices. She asked if they could make something NOT on the menu, Shrimp Parmesan….turns out they could and she loved it...pasta was served on the side. On the non-GF front, I couldn’t decide between the eggplant parmesan and Rigotoni Boscaiola, so I order half portions of each! I loved them both. The GF clams were more breading than clams, but it was nice to have the GF option. We hope to be back here soon. GF bread and deserts also available.

This would be great pizza if it were the 1970s, and your other options were Little Caesar’s and Dominos. However, in the 21st Cenrtury, there are so many better options, even among national chains. Visitors to Chicago who feel compelled to try Chicago deep dish will find it here. Just don’t confuse it with GOOD pizza. Hi Eric, we are sorry to see you had a disappointing experience with us. We would love to hear from you about this more directly. What could we have done better? Please click the link to fill out the corresponding information. The pizza at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. My person favorite is the Buffalina pizza and my boyfriend loves the Tres Carne. Also hands down the best cannoli I have ever had in my life (and I've been to Italy). The fries are delicious as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you're debating on trying this place don't wait any longer! Also the pizza reheats really well so you can always take leftovers home and enjoy the pizza again!
