We had a 6 pm reservation. 11 girls. Waiter did get our drinks in a timely fashion. Our waiter had several tables. Under staffed. Their were other waiters but no one seem to help him out with chip/salsa and drink refills. He was doing everything on his own. Do not care for their salsa but ordered Chicken Faquita quesadilla and it was good. Had to ask for the sour cream and avocado that should have came with it. Other than slow service we had a good time.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Period. Better than anywhere Iâve been in Chicago or California. Better than ANYWHERE. Why? The authentic Mexican tacos, specifically the Al Pastor, but above all, because the guacamole is unbeatable. Itâs chunky, with bits of cilantro, tomato, and onion, with a hint of lime and something else I canât quite nail down when Iâm trying to knock it off at home. The last bite is worth fighting your date for, in a Joey Tribiani âIâm not even sorryâ kinda way. Just go. If you love hole in the wall Mexican joints, you know what kind of place this is. Itâs YAAAASSSSSS good.
If this place was open all year or had a stand alone store, I would eat there once a week. Their salsa's that accompany their food is the best I've ever tasted. The Chicken Burritos and Pork tacos are fantastic. All the ingredients are fresh and made to order. Simply delicious. They also offer some crazy kind of Mexican sweet soda pop that is pure sugar, but good.!!
Stopped at Ranchero Viejo after passing the many fast food restaurants on Pershing at lunch time, and so glad we did. Really delicious, freshly prepared authentic Mexican food. The sauces were very good and the heat just right (I wonder what chilies they use?). Very attentive wait staff.
We went here recently with our grandkids, it was very good food and decent service. Our food came pretty quick and was hot. Also good chips, salsa, and cheese dip. Price was also reasonable. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area and I would say this is one of the best but it is kind of hidden,so a lot of people probably don't realize it is there!!!
Raul and his wife have built this business to be one of the best restaurants in Decatur. Not just Mexican restaurants, which they are.... but overall everything, service, food selection, taste, Value, all are 10 out of 10 . Great family and great food. Do not miss it. I have never, and I mean never had a bad meal there.

Large Mexican Restaurant in Decatur, Illinois. Phone number for the restaurant is 217-423-9724. I live in Decatur and I am NOT affiliated with this establishment.
Recent visit to this restaurant was our first experience. We met up with relatives for one of their daughters birthday celebration. We were in a party of 12 that ranged from 8 months to 66 years old. The fare was similar to Carlos O'Brians, Carlos O'Kelly's, etc. Much like the two other Carlos restaurants the food is not totally authentic but none-the-less quite good. With a large group to feed the service was surprisingly fast and courteous. If you are in need of a Mexican fix you couldn't go wrong stopping in here.

Mi Pueblito Provides Grande Margarita, Food And Dining, To Go Restaurant, Catering And Mexican Restaurant To The Decatur, IL Area.
Really popular place.....lots of large groups of college students when we were there. Chips were OK, Salsa was good, queso was OK. We had fajitas and tacos. Chicken was plentiful.....onions and peppers were not cooked completely, which sometimes is OK but didn't work so well here. The sides were a bit odd to us....very little cheese....it was kinda like a small spoonful melted into the refried beans......no shredded cheddar at all.....and we were asked if we wanted guac.....I sure didn't see any on any of the plates so don't know what that was all about. Service was very friendly and prompt. They were busy and easily handling everyone. Prices were pretty average.

El Rodeo is not the most authentic mexican place around, but it's great. The options are amazing and the prices are fantastic. The Shrimp dishes are out of this world with 20 well cooked shrimp for less than $13 with some guacamole, veggies, rice, beans, and tortillas. You couldn't get away with making something that good at home for the same price. The hot salsa that they have (on request) is fantastic and flavorful. The only thing i wish was that the margaritas were less sweet. I'll keep coming back to support this place as I really appreciate them bringing great food to the community on a daily basis!
