Enjoyed our dinner at Makisu! I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki and it was delicious! The sauteed veggies which accompanied the entree were beautifully presented and excellent tasting as well. Other dinners ordered included Chicken Teriyaki, Scallop Crab Cake and the Tempura Small Plates - everyone was very happy. Miso Soup is included with the entrees.

Hackneyâs opened up in 1939 on Harms Road. In 1955 Hackneyâs on Lake Ave. We are well known for our Famous Hackney Burger served on our house baked dark rye bread and our Original French Fried Onions.
The food is all right - essentially pub food. Their claims to fame are the Hackney burger, which is just a burger served on dark rye, the french fried onion ring "brick", and the inside out burger, which is a burger with cheese and bacon stuffed inside. The fried onion "brick" is okay, but not great. Every time I've had it, the onions were closer to burnt than fried. Order at your own risk.Service is average, but when the place is crowded, the service tends to fall off a lot. I recommend going during no-peak hours. Otherwise sit at the bar. You'll get better service.

I have been to the Yard House several times and the food is good and consistent. This past Friday we must have been in a shift change because our waitress seemed to disappear mid-meal.We kept looking for her so we could receive our check but 10 minutes went by and no waitress. We did wave down someone else and asked for the check. Our waitress must have left and a new waitress or waiter never acknowledged themselves.I might also mention we were provided a portable "buzzer" letting us know when our table would be ready, but it never beeped and people were getting tables so I provided our name, they checked the monitor and it appeared the buzzer device was never activated. My name did not appear either on the reservation monitor, yet when I arrived, they acknowledged the reservation. Go figure.

Casual family dining
Very good thin-crust pizza. The appetizers and sandwiches are also very good. Beer is usually ordered by the pitcher. Many TVs to watch sports are available. Bench seating throughout.

The food is typical Irish - stick to your ribs. We meet with friends after a Skokie event. The server was very good and offered suggestions on Irish drinks- Jameson and Ginger Ale for one.

Our favorite place for sushi. I enjoy the atmosphere - comfortable and lively, but not so loud that you canât carry a conversation. Food is consistently good but on more than one occasion, when the restaurant is busier, the service has been below average. Servers are always friendly but it seems as though they canât keep up with the traffic. Most recently, we were seated for more than five minutes before our server introduced herself. Drinks took too long to show up and we had to flag her down for another round. Same deal trying to get and then pay the bill. She did the best she could (and with a smile) but poor service has been the rule lately rather than the exception.

We stopped at this long-time restaurant and watering hole for a Saturday lunch. All of the college football games were on the many screens. I opted for a burger. My wife went Italian with Egg plant Parmesan. Her portion was like two so she took half home. I knocked off the burger but couldnât finish the coleslaw and cooked vegetables. Great service! Huge beer selection but a little early for us. Nice menu.

Hackney's opened in 1939 in Glenview, Illinois. We are famous for our Hackney Burger served on our house made Dark Rye and our Original French Fried Onions. We are still owned and operated by the same family that opened Hackney's 80 years ago!
The food and atmosphere are on par with the Hackney's on Lake. Usually the service is good too, but on our most recent visit the wait staff went MIA so often I felt like I needed to tackle one of them just to get their attention (flailing my arms like a quarterback signalling a touch-down worked at the last minute.) There were only 2-3 tables with patrons in our section so it's not like they were over-loaded with customers.Hopefully next time the wait staff will be back up to speed.

We stopped at The Howard Street Inn because it was Tueday, which meant their sloppy Joe special, though when we arrived, we realized that they were celebrating Fat Tuesday. The parking lot was full and the restaurant and bar were full, though there was a good turnover. We waited about ten minutes, but it was worth it. Our server came to the table and took our drink order. When she brought back the "Hurricane", we ordered. The first entree was the sloppy Joe special which includes mac and cheese with two decent-sized sloppy Joe sandwiches. We also ordered the tuna stuffed avocado. We were a bit disappointed with that, however, as it seemed like there should have been a little more avocado, but it was tasty. As we neared the end of our meal, the owner brought two complimentary paczki to our table - one blueberry and one raspberry which were from Oak Mill Bakery. A great way to end the evening. The price was really good for what we had and we did have some food to take home. Our server, Christina, was very personable, efficient and she was very busy.

As a Frequent Diner member, was somewhat shocked at the way the late afternoon meal unfolded. Arrived around 3:40PM, and asked for the dinner menu. Was seated in the bar area, where the only server doubled as the bartender, and NO busboy help, as it got busier (even though the server tried her hardest) things just went south from there. Had a 6 piece shrimp cocktail, which was excellent, soups were luke warm, but could not get attention of the server to correct the problem because she then became very busy with bar patrons and other tables.....all they while the manager with another employee stood at the front talking.....not paying attention to what going on. Had ask for bread and butter.....it finally arrived a loaf of onion bread that my wife could not eat......finally asked server if there was another type of bread available....she said no, so I asked to pay for a piece of the corn bread that went along with the brisket.....she said fine. 5 minutes later, the manager that was doing nothing came to the table and said he was sorry, they only had enough corn bread for the brisket special that day. I then expressed my concern about the lack of people working.....he said "sorry" and walked away. There was dirty dishes from the shrimp and soup laying on the table, but I guess he felt that was not has job to remove them....a pathetic attitude for a Melman restaurant manager. All the entries were finally served.....with my wife's Filet being excellent. But at 32.95 with only a side of fries....pretty pricey.....Wildfire offers 2 sides along with excellent service no matter what time you go to the restaurant. Obviously somebody (besides the current management staff at Woods) needs to address the staffing problems during ALL time periods. Spent $168 for a disrupted dinner.....won't be back for awhile.
