Located at 2511 South State Route 157, Hotshots Sports Bar & Grill in Edwardsville, IL is the perfect place to meet with friends and enjoy great food and cold beer.
I called ahead to place an order for takeout. Valerie took my order and repeated it back to me. When satisfied she said stop by in 30 minutes. Stopped in at required time and only had to wait couple extra minutes. Everything I had ordered was there. We had gone to this Hotshots when first opened and was disappointed. Has not improved very much. For appetizers had Wings and pretzel sticks. Wings ranked as some of the worst ever. Didnât look good and didnât taste good. Pretzels were ok. There were two Cobb Salads and these were ok. One Philly sandwich which was devoured so must have been good. Last order was Italian beef. Terrible, dry, tasteless. Even the en jus couldnât help. Will not be back for awhile. Thanks for coming to visit us and taking time to leave a review. We appreciate and value your feedback very much. First: I have never eaten in the restaurant - my parents live nearby and we have frequently ordered take out. So I can speak to the food and only superficially to the atmosphere and service. We have ordered pizzas, burgers, salads, and dinners. All have been prepared as requested, with fresh, good quality produce. Burgers can be ordered 1/4 or 1/2 pound - their special burgers are 1/2 pound - big enough for two meals! Sides are extra. Dinners range from fish to chicken to steak. On my last trip (last week), I ordered Skewered Shrimp - about 15 medium shrimp with choice of 'finish' - blackened or garlic or ??? I opted for plain. Came bedded on wild rice, with two additional sides - one of their 'regular sides' and one 'premium' side. My parents selected grilled tilapia with lemon pepper and ... something else I don't remember. We've also ordered their Hot Bacon Spinach Salad (the dressing is hot with bacon - the salad is not hot). It's BIG, fresh, and DELICIOUS!!! A variety of pizza suggestions, with customized toppings available. I notice another reviewer experienced poor service. As I said at the beginning, I cannot speak to service for a sit-down meal, but when I have gone in to pick up, the young ladies have been hustling, courteous, and efficient. AND they've never made a mistake with my pickup - nor have I ever had to wait because it wasn't ready when they said it would be.

We had a party of three, it was very busy. Waitress' first day and was overwhelmed. Manager refilled our drinks, answered our questions and brought the food. Wings were okay, overpriced though. There are other places that sell wings that I would rather go to. Overall not disappointed with visit but wouldn't go out of my way to go again.

Recommended for a casual time. Excellent juicy burgers and lots of beer. It's a longtime hangout right in the center of downtown and has a classic feel with oak benches and tables and a long bar. We often get a beer here whole we're waiting for a table at Cleveland & Heath, but I really enjoy eating burgers here, too.

We've eaten here four times for various events over the past two years and each time the food incredibly bland. It is cooked well and looks amazing, but there is simply no flavor to any of it, including their chili (which looks mouth-watering good). No salt, no garlic, no pepper - if it was also boiled you'd swear you were in England! It is a very casual environment with non-existent service. It is sad, because it is a great place otherwise and the prices are towards the lower end of the spectrum, but I want flavor!

We have been here sever times. Couple times for lunch as well as dinner. This was our second attempt at Sunday brunch. The decor is upgraded bar with a separate bar-hi top tables in front and standard sitting in rear.We have found the service seriously lacking and slow. The servers tend to stand at the end of the bar and talk, laugh and carry on even when you have your bill and credit card in the air hoping someone will pick it up.This last visit my wife had the breakfast sandwich and thought it was very good. She had the Brussel sprouts as a side and thought they were good also.I had the eggs Benedict and they were not good. First they were cold, second the yolks were hard. I sent them back and when the replacement arrived it was not much better. We almost got up and left after 40 minutes when our food had not arrived. The place was less than half full at 10:15 am so donât understand the slowness. Edwardsville has lots of choices for meals. Not sure we will try again. My rating if by myself would be 1 Star. So this is tempered by what my wife had.

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor I was not sure what to expect. The restaurant is located in a area away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is in a semi secluded area filled with trees making it a peaceful setting especially if on the large patio. The food was excellent and not pricey at all. There were four of us and we ordered two orders of the Salmon, chicken tacos, and the meatloaf. The portions are large and the food was very good. I ordered the meatloaf and it was moist, the bacon was not over cooked, the mashed potatoes were creamy, and the green beans were cooked just right. The only issue we had was one of the Salmon orders had a section that was under cooked. That kept this from being a Five Star reveiw. The bar drinks were a good size, and surprised us by not being expensive as other reviews mentioned. I paid 7.50 for a large Tanguiray martini which is less than most other places. The waitress was attentive and gave us some good advice about the menu. She split a salad for my wife and I which was very nice.We were there in the evening and there was plenty of parking. We came from South St Louis and it was a easy 45 min drive.Thank you so much for dining with us! We are glad so much of your experience was positive and will work with our line cooks on preparing the salmon. We do cook the salmon to medium so if it was not that way, I apologize. If you do prefer it cooked more than medium just let us know and we will make it happen. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Bigelo's has a narrow storefront on the east side of North Main in Edwardsville, so it could be easy to miss as you were driving by. But once inside, you'll be treated to brightly colored walls decorated with lots of colorful modern art paintings and a mix of plain & painted 2 & 4-top tables with chairs (with high chairs avaiable for youngsters). Its layout & features are more bar & grill than bistro, with a small bar & seating area near the kitchen divided off by a half-wall from a main front dining area. They also have a very small patio out back with 4 or 5 tables, a couple with umbrellas. There's plenty of free public parking behind the business row containing the restaurant, so don't be tempted to park in the reserved spaces along the south side of the building.I made this first visit to Bigelo's on a Saturday in late spring around noontime, just as the nearby weekly community market event was wrapping up. The restaurant had just one other customer when I walked in, but it started to fill quickly as I was served & enjoyed my lunch. All of the young ladies on the staff were very friendly & attentive (especially my server, Jori), and my wait time for food was reasonable for items freshly prepared. Based on previous TA reviewers' recommendations (thank you), I upcharged to a small spinach salad as my side item & it was one of the best tasting salads of its kind that I've had (with enough "small" to bring leftovers home for supper). My Chicken Guy chicken breast sandwich was simply prepared & dressed, well cooked but still moist with light seasoning & fresh garden toppings. I had just enough room left to try a small scoop of their housemade ice cream (butterscotch pecan that day), which wasn't particularly creamy but had good flavor & was worth the $1.75 charge. My total bill with soft drink (free refills) and tip was $22, which I felt was a very reasonable price for a flavorful & filling lunch in a very enjoyable atmosphere.I would recommend Bigelo's Bistro as a lunch or dinner stop for singles, couples or families of all ages. The menu has variety, the food prep & quality are very good, and the staff will make you feel welcome from beginning to end. And be sure to enjoy the artwork while you're there - it serves as an appetizer for the eyes.

Such a shame! The owner needs to get back involved instead of opening other places. Today was the second time in a row that we had poor service and cold food. Had to ask for straws, which is not a problem, however she forgot to bring them. Asked for an appetizer of garlic bread to be served first. After reminding 2 different servers that we didn't receive it, it finally arrived after we had eaten most of our main course. No apology was given. My first post raved about it. Now-not so much.falcon5683,We assure you that the owners are still very involved in the businesses. Reading feedback like this is never easy, but we really appreciate you taking the time to give an honest review of your experience. I'm really sorry to hear that we fell short and that your service was less than ideal. We've noted everything you wrote and are going to work hard to avoid this in the future.
