If you want a neighborhood pub type experience with excellent food, friendly people, and good service then come to Brandt's. It has been an institution in Palatine for years. We just recently ate there within the past 3 years and it has become a regular stop. The hamburgers are superb, as are the potatoes. They have nice outdoor dining in the summertime, and crowded but comfortable seating inside.

We've been here a few times and always enjoyed the beer, the food, and the service. This time I ordered a grilled cauliflower steak, which was served with two varieties of squash. ...I'm not vegetarian but if I could be assured of food like this ALL the time when eating out I might consider giving up meat! Absolutely delicious. Huge portion, too.Loved our server, who had a great sense of humor. Loved the beer choices, too.

The Yankee Doodle tavern has been around Barrington IL for almost 50 years. This is the type of bar that you walk into and immediately feel something special. There are plenty of locals from multiple generations who hang out to watch sports, play darts, and solve the problems of the World. In addition to plenty of draft beers with daily specials, there are over 100 micro brews in bottles described on the chalkboard above the bar including their alcohol content (%). The root beer flavored beer is a ladies best friend. The bar tenders are pleasant and each has a story to tell. The dart competition can be lively on weekends with a few Benjamins being traded between winners and losers. The Doodle Tots & Doodle Fries are perfect for those who want to snack. The burgers are awesome and custom orders are no problem. Monday kitchen fair is limited to nuked pretzels and cheese as well a "Chili" straight from a can. Otherwise, this is a great place to meet people regardless of your income level, marital status, or weight class. Enjoy.

This is usually one of my favorite places. But not this visit. Ordered 2 cheeseburgers cooked medium. One was medium one was not. Waitress didnât do much about it. The sweet potato fries were served cold. We waited a long time to get our check and usually service is amazing. Donât think Iâll be back. Sorry Beelows.

Big Iron Horse is an unassuming small (call for reservations) restaurant in the heart of Barrington.We had the Brisket dinner and Pulled Pork Tacos (that have a bit of heat).Great tasting BBQ and a great selection of craft beers.The owner / chef Scott was nice enough to share his BBQ techniques with us which will keep us coming back for more.Eric & Carm

Good basic food and kitsch, on the patio they have flamingos on walls, need I say more! The restaurant is your typical neighbourhood spot, its dark and full of regulars just as it should be. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the food is typical good pub food, if you are expecting fine dinning this is not the place, hence the name Roadhouse. I passed by this place on RT. 14 numerous times and never went in until recently with my husband and we were pleasantly surprised, I was expecting a hole, but this place was clean and respectable. We sat on the patio overlooking the lawn, I just love the garage doors and flamingo paintings. We had the burgers which were pretty good and they have a good beer, mixed drinks and wine selection, we indulged in all three, I must say this is one of the few neighbourhood places we have been in that the staff did not look at us as if we had two heads or they should call intervention when we ordered multiple beers, a bottle of wine for one, and mixed drinks. Also the chocolate cake is amazing, I wish I was not so full from the burger and was able to finish it, they give you a slab not a sliver. To their credit, they do try and keep families with children far enough away from dinners with no children, so that you can have a adult conversation, and not have to cope with children running about and being loud. I would recommend if you are adults with no children to go later in the afternoon or evening, we have been twice, 1st time was pretty late and there were very few families, 2nd time was earlier and there were more families, unfortunately a family with two children were seated close by us, and the mum getting up to serve her children that were well past toddler age did get a bit annoying for my husband since she had to walk in back of him every time the kids wanted something(they looked to be between 8-12, old enough to put food on the plate without help, but they were also drinking out of cups with lids on them, and the whole family had the table manners of barn animals) so lesson learned, go later, but that really did not damper our experience, our wait person was great, and we will be back. Also they have plenty of parking close to the door. I would recommend you don't pass this place, its a hidden neighbourhood gem.

My wife and I had dinner here. The Horseshoe Grill has a nice selection of bottled beers and some nice draughts. We both had their draught Stiegl-Goldbräu, an Austrian beer, which was very good and unique in this area. We both had their "dynamite burger" which was excellent and quite tasty. This place was really busy when we were there on a Saturday night.

I ate here, for an early afternoon Saturday lunch while in town for a bridal shower, while my wife and daughters were at the shower.The place had a good crowd and it was loud due to people cheering for a World Cup soccer game.But, I had no problem getting seated, as it is a large restaurant. The server was excellent and attentive. I had chicken wings as an appetizer and a steak sandwich as a main lunch course. Both were very good and filling.I frequent Irish restaurants, when possible. This one was well worth the visit again the next time I am in the area.

One of my mother in laws favorite places to eat. She lived and worked in Barrington for 65 years. She passed away last week so we decided to have one last small dinner before we traveled home. A cheerful environment. Lots of light wood, casual, spacious and upbeat pub. The service was friendly and the food selection was varied. The fish and chips had a very light, crisp batter coating and the chips were also light. The fish tacos were flavorful, and served with a coarse slaw and tasty relish. The dark beer was rich and smooth.This is the perfect stop over when visiting the San Fillipo Estates....literally seven minutes away.
