Reviews on American food in Gurnee, Illinois, United States. Gurnee, midway between Chicago and Milwaukee, is probably best known as the home of Six Flags Amusement Park and the Gurnee Mills shopping outlet. Now Midwesterners looking for a little rest and relaxation can sample the town's top attraction, the KeyLime Cove hotel and water park, which also features a spa, shopping and six restaurants.

Has been in Gurnee for at least 20 years.
I've been going to Backyard for many years. They have excellent steaks (I assume they are choice not prime) which are made on a grill where you can watch them cook it. Fairly cozy but not crowded atmosphere, good sides, and a small but decent salad bar. The prices are not cheap but nowhere near what a fancy steak place (Ruth's Chris, Morton's etc) would be. I keep going there and am always satisfied.

cracker barrel near six flags---gurnee Illinois
Cracker Barrel brings back great memories of family road trips as a child and stopping at these restaurants in the middle of the country! I ate at this Cracker Barrel in February 2019, and it was a great visit! The staff were all friendly/welcoming, the restaurant was clean, and the food was great! The shop was also a walk down memory lane! Thank you for the great day Cracker Barrel!

Part adventure, part restaurant and wholly entertaining. The Rainforest Cafe is an exciting thrill for all ages. Wild times await in a decorative jungle with animatronics and a menu of delicious American and tropical fare.
Rolando, Aldo, and Kevin the Manager was very polite, friendly and prompt. Their service was on point. Very good people. We will definitely go back for the staff, food and atmosphere.

This is a diamond in the rough and needs to be discovered - no further polishing necessary. This is a perfect BBQ place ... casual as can be. I wish it were a bit larger - nowhere to allow the long line at lunch to stand (but a positive testament to its popularity.) I recommend it 100%, but you should call ahead ... occasionally, they are closed when they would normally be open. Perhaps this is just personal experience and I happened to go but found them closed - just saying. We had the rib tip special that day ... I happened to be at the front of the line before ordering, saw the rib tips, asked what that was and HAD to have it! I'm sure every other thing on the menu is just as great.

Stopped in for a beer and appetizers. The fried cheese curds were inedible. The wings were fine. We only go to this site when desperate. We would rather drive to the site in Libertyville because the food is so much better and more consistent.Thank you for the review, CJGurnee. We appreciate your feedback, as it allows us to constantly grow and improve. Please know that if anytime your expectations are not met when you are visiting us, please let us know and we will make it right. We hope to serve you again soon. Thanks.

Local restaurant with an ecclectic menu: bar food, pizza, greek, Italian. They have TVs with sports Games throughout. I ordered the lemon chicken soup. I do not recommend this. it tasted like a can of cream of chicken soup and there was hardly any rice in it. The rice must have all absorbed into the soup. I should have tasted it prior, but it was not a good soup.

Full service restaurant and lounge
Our group of eight received excellent service, and everyone enjoyed his or her food. That some dishes were infused with chocolate was a happy novelty surprise enjoyed by everyone. The cocoa-nibs-crusted Great Lakes Whitefish was a hit with most of us, but the beef eaters among us also enjoyed their meals. A custom-ordered, gluten-free four-layer dark chocolate torte dessert was spectacular!
