Le Janissaire, itâs a garden terrace under allée Vivaldi arcades not far from Dugommier metro. Itâs a dining room nicely decorated with black wood paneling and bar, beige walls, yellow curtains, landscape paintings. Itâs a typical Turkish cuisine with tasty dishes like tarama, börek (cheese puff), zucchini fritters, grilled chicken breast with yogurt-garlic sauce, minced meat with eggplant and tomato, musakka, baklava, lokum. Itâs the find of Kavaklidere Lal, a fruity and tangy Turkish rosé wine. Itâs a salted bill. Itâs a good time for sure.

There is not much space outside the restaurant but enough for two tables. It was a warm evening, so though there was room in the restaurant's cosy interior we decided for the tables outside - despite the uncollected rubbish bins. An Efes beer, a demi-litre vin rouge and a delicious mixed plate (hors d'oeuvres) together with a tender grilled chicken dish later and the unanimous opinion was: parfait, wunderbar, tasted bloody good! So, if you want a change from (not always good) bistro cuisine in the wider vicinity of Bastille give this Turkish (Kurdish) restaurant a go. We did'nt regret it.

I stumbled across this restaurant while renting in the Latin Quarter. The food is exceptional -- extremely fresh, delicious. Myriads of options and extremely fair pricing. The owners are beyond friendly and gracious. Meat options and great for vegetarians/vegans. I ate here 3x in one week -- twice for lunch and once for take out dinner. A welcome break from standard French bistro fare.
