A nice little British style pub with a good selection of beers and decent fish and chips. Not much English spoken but there is a English menu.

Located high above the city square plaza across from the newer shopping mall; this is meant to be an upscale dinning experience featuring an extensive drinks menu and Italian leaning cuisine. There is an option of indoor or outdoor seating and both are a bit noisy. Seating on the balcony above the square can be noisy if there is a summer JPop show going on in the plaza below so keep this in mind. Other than that it is the perfect vantage point for crowd watching and catching the evening breezes.Portions are small and served family style which means sharing even smaller portions so it becomes more of a tasting experience. Food is well prepared though, what we had was very tasty- just very little of it, more than the food itself the cheese in it was filling. Service was slow. One addition to the wait staff would make a big difference as the two people on the floor were harried with a nearly full house. Try to order enough water for the table when you first order drinks because there are no refills apparently,no matter how nicely you ask.

Salvatore Cuomo is on 2F of a multi-level restaurant building directly in front of Himeji Station. The food is all prepared with the same Japanese precision and attention as an aorta surgeon. The [M size] Diavola 'Nduja (photo included) was a good start to add some much needed sustenance to the hangriness (Hungry+Angry) stemming from my belly but beginning to redirect my brain. I was more than surprised that it not only curbed my hungriness but completely satisfied my mouth's need to appease my grumbling stomach with a delightful "SHUT THE HELL UP!" Complimented with a glass of the house red (can you say 'BALLA!') it was a great pairing for a meal; much like an inexperienced hiker without a compass in Alaska and a brown grizzly.I left the restaurant more satisfied than Kanye West completing his writing of a baby names book. As far as delicious, moderate-priced woodfire pizza shops go, this is a perfect place in the midst of about 50+ restaurants within a block of Himeji Station.

It is a Japanese restaurant where you can eat delicious Japanese fresh fish. There are abundant sake in Japan in the shop! Some dishes can only be eaten here. It is a 10-minute walk from the shop to the World Heritage Himeji Castle. It is the best shop fo
The kaseiki set menu I had in Fukutei was delicious. I had never eaten tempura eel before, and I was surprised. Also other dishes (sushi and sashimi) looked great. The set menus are very colourful and mine was definitely tasty! Free tea provided and refilled a couple of times!

I stumbled upon this place as I was exploring drinking places at Himeji. Luckily Tripadvisor has this ranked quite high. After having dinner, I went to this sake place Kokoromi. It is worth exploring especially for people who are not familiar with Japanese sake. I was quickly greeted by the bartender, I immediately let him know I cannot speak Japanese. He showed me the computer terminal and explained to me how to use it. They also have a pocket translator which allows you speak to the device and they will answer your question / comments.I was lazy and had the bartender picked 2 he would recommend when I asked for "drier" ones. it becomes easy afterwards. It is all standing, and there's no tall chairs. I suppose it is not a place for you to spend hours drinking. It is more of a library of Hyogo sake for you to sample. There were quite a few locals visiting as well. The drinks are affordable, they start from approximately 260 YEN for the size of a shot glass. My favorites are number 272 (çè大åéè³), 129 and 44 (in order of preference)I truly had a wonderful time at the shop. The bartender there are super kind and helpful. I recommend it if you are visiting Himeji.

Gassai is not going to win any Michelin stars. I've rated it excellent because it executes what it is aiming for very well. Good Izakaya style food and drink at reasonable prices. Unlike a lot of similar places in Japan, it has an English menu. They cater to tourists without wrecking the local atmosphere. Perhaps the reason it keeps its atmosphere is because it is on the "wrong" side of the tracks - the far side of the rails station from the castle - and has no external ignage in English.Cut through the train station. Gassai is only a minute or two past the Nikko Hotel. Look for the lanterns outside. (Check the TA photos or look at Google street view.)
