The Inn at Gristmill Square showcases regional American farm-to-table cuisine in the Waterwheel Restaurant. Our menu changes with the seasons to guarantee the freshest most authentic flavors. Freshly prepared ingredients from local and regional growers fill the menu, offering guests an exceptional dining experience. Beyond the menu, guests will enjoy a romantic, intimate atmosphere inside our renovated Mill.
It’s not often that one can actually dine inside of a 200-year old (our gues-timate) now retired water-powered Grist Mill.
The chef here prepares unusually delicious creative dishes, sourced from local farms.
Be sure to check out the restaurant’s wine cellar on the lower level, which was where the grinding stones operated. It is a very impressive wine cellar, and the prices on the bottles make it easy to choose one to accompany your dinner.
Prices for food are mid-range.
This lovely historic restaurant has a magical quality to it that will make your dinner here very special.

Boy, the reviews make this place sound like Her Majesty's favorite restaurant. However, don't book reservations based on current menu. It will likely not be available. I had steak, could not cut or chew. Waitress was good and very attentive, but they charged me for one bite. Bill for two over $150.00. Convenient to The Homestead, but won't do it again.

We are native to Bath County, VA. and we eat out at least twice a month. Country Cafe is our first choice for a meal out. When we arrive, it will take about five minutes, maybe more, to greet all our friends, neighbors and relatives...MoreThank you so much for your wonderful, kind review! We are blessed to have so many locals like yourselves that support our business on a regular basis.

They have fantastic food... and the breakfast buffet is a must - at least once... or twice... well, every morning - if you want it, they have it and they change up many items daily.

Country cooking with everything from Hamburgers to Steaks and Trout and Salmon. Come enjoy a friendly atmosphere with your family and friends. We also have appetizers and beverages of all kinds.
Humble and simple describes this place. But don't let that stop you. They aim to please and the staff here is fun. We ordered up a bunch of stuff because it was cheap prices and we wanted to see just how they did on certain dishes. No one was disappointed. I honestly cannot remember everything we ordered but I know there was fried mushrooms as an appetizer and a dish of spagetti and meatballs, a hamburger and liver and onions. The side dishes were good especiallu the mashed potatoes. We came back the next day for breakfast and had even more fun talking with the owner. " So where do you fish up here" response "In the water". OK it's gonna be like that. Well I proceeded to kill him with a few jokes and we all had a great time. Food is good and prepared well but nothing fancy. Great deserts, they do serve alcohol and the desserts were really good too!

Pizzas, pasta and salads exceeded our expectations!
But felt like the service needed extra hands. Our server was doing his best and was kind, but simply too busy to offer us great service. More people should be working.
Liked this place, just hated that you had to go outside to access it from the Homestead, when it's frigid outside!

Snead's 1912 Steak will be the premier steakhouse dining experience in Virginia while honoring world renowned golfer, and Bath County native, Sam Snead. We will be the flagship restaurant in the Snead family brand, and the best possible representation of a high-quality restaurant in our community. We take reservations for our fine-dining areas offering our full steakhouse menu and table-side preparations. We also have to casual lounge areas featuring burgers and sandwiches. Those areas are not available for reservations, and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Only steps away from West exit of Homestead, a nice wood-walled inn-type restaurant. We sat at bar for just apps. Steamed oysters with sauce was terrific. we tried Mini Pot-Pie croquets...interesting but would not order again. Tableside-prepared caesar salad was excellent. Also had BBQ duck wings.....dried out and very sloppy for a fine dining experience. Then we decided we were still hungry so wanted to order a burger...figured it would be excellent since they boast of their steaks...when ordering medium rare, we were told only medium well.....what????? This was a BIG turn-off so didn't order and went back to Homestead Jefferson Grill for a great med rare burger.
So, nice ambiance, good service, OK food...just don't order a burger...wonder if the steaks were only med well too?

This is a nice place to pick up a snack, breakfast roll , coffee or drink located on the lobby floor of the hotel. There are places on the porch area where you can consume while enjoying the mountain view

We stopped in for dinner. The salad bar is pretty good. The bread sticks and turnovers were yummy. If you order the Philly cheese steak, it will come with marinara on it unless you all for it without. And if you're expecting it to come with your typical onions and peppers, it doesn't. Very weird. Also, they lost their liquor license so don't expect to order a beer or any wine with dinner. It was just ok. Doubt we would return.
