Longtime Hilton Honors + Hampton Inn Customer - I do NOT recommend this hotel!
Reviewed By Cara IBackground for context: I have been a Hilton Honors member for 21 years and consistently stay at Hampton Inn hotels. This review is specifically for the Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham-Hoover-Galleria. From the exterior, this hotel looks new and nice. Customer service is fine. I was greeted by the front desk staff with a smile. I did not receive any acknowledgement or free water for HH status, but I was tired and it was late, so I didn't push. I've organized my feedback by room. First Room - Room 512 - Large roach - did not stay long enough to inspect the room, immediately left and asked for another room. But where there is one roach there is typically more. Second Room - Room 410 - Ant traps in the bathroom - a FIRST, I've never seen bug traps in a Hampton Inn - The thermostat did not work. The AC never turned off and was going full blast, luckily I love a cold room and packed layers - There was hair on the bathroom floor (not mine). - The tub drain was clogged, so I stood in a few inches of water during the shower. - Pink mold in the corners of the bathtub I stayed for 2 nights and was out of the room during the day until late. There was no one at the front desk when I arrived at night and departed to leave any feedback. I honestly was too nervous to get another room for fear it was going to be even worse. All in all I would NOT recommend this hotel. 100% satisfaction is NOT guaranteed if you decide to stay here. I will be visiting the area for work again and will not be staying here. I've also notified my company of the state of this hotel, so others will not book a stay.

Reviewed By Andiwilk91The staff was extremely kind and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. No bugs of any kind which is a huge plus bc several other hotels in the area need to hire pest control. Overall a nice quaint hotel for a decent price. The only complaint I have is the breakfast and even that wasn't bad. Breakfast just needs more options.

Great Staff But a Little Disappointed with Facility
Reviewed By LSUGooseStayed three nights during SEC baseball tourney. Great location and extremely friendly staff. The facility is a little lacking for a Homewood/Hilton property. Swimming pool was green and closed. Fitness Center is tiny. Had two treadmills and one elliptical, which was broken. Ruined my workout routine. The shower in our tub dripped nonstop and could not be turned off. The bathroom door not only would not lock, it would not latch and stay closed.

Reviewed By N4576TUmarktI have stayed at this property probably 10 times in last 12 months. Everything is bad. Food, check in, gym stinks, bed sucks. The experience has become progressively worse to the point where I went to check in tonight, got hassled by crazy rude night check in person and I canceled my future reservations and will never stay here again.

The beds were awful, they didn't even give fresh towels the next day without asking for them. No free breakfast is offered. The air conditioning is very loud and unable to have a continuous fan. Definitely crossed off my list of places to stay.

Excellent Hotel - Great Hospitality
Reviewed By Haddon PWe enjoyed our experience last year at this hotel that we decided to return this year on our annual visit to Hoover, AL to volunteer at the Regions Tradition Golf Tournament. Check in was quick and friendly. Our guest room was spotless clean. The bed linens crisp and clean. I hope that ownership will consider stand alone showers in any future renovation. Housekeeping services are only twice during your stay and must be requested the day before. Housekeeping is not done on the weekends. A very comfortable lobby and outdoor seating area. The pool was closed during our stay for renovation. Not a problem for us but I suspect that many children would have been disappointed. The fitness area is fairly large and has numerous pieces of equipment. The hotel is located near to numerous excellent restaurants in an entertainment district just a few miles away. Also close to the Hoover Met for those involved in sporting events. I have seen numerous complaints from loyal Marriott travelers on a FB Group I am in regarding recent changes in the breakfast offerings at all Marriott properties. I can report that this breakfast was outstanding with numerous offerings daily including scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, assorted breads, oatmeal, grits, cereal, fruit, juice, hard cooked eggs and even brie cheese. It was great to see the waffle irons available and in use. Kids loved making their own waffles, me too! This property is doing the RI Mix Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings only. We enjoyed every evening. Simple hot appetizer, chips, cheese, fruit, wine, beer and soda available. We enjoyed and appreciated the local craft beer offerings. Kudos to two of the hardest working and hospitable individuals. Denita and Maria work at the morning and evening buffet. They are both very friendly and hard working, keep the buffet stocked and clean. Management should commend both for their hard work. I asked Denita what motivated her in her job and she replied that, every day is a gift. For us this was a great experience at the Residence Inn in Hoover, Al and highly recommend it. We look forward to returning again next year.
