Back in 2004, Kash along with some classmates had decided to plan a restaurant for their senior level marketing class at UAB. The project took the full course of the semester and after several grueling months of research they came up with an idea to start a seafood restaurant with a beach feel. The final business plan was to be presented in front of a group of investors. Following the presentation, the investors stated that as long as the business plan was followed, it would be successful. Hearing their response they decided to give it a shot. They figured they would not have a hard time getting started as they had some connections with a large seafood supplier in Bayou La Batre, Louisiana. The original concept had been to have a seafood market as well as a restaurant. So naturally they started off as just a seafood market and decided to grow into the restaurant side. Once they started the restaurant side however, business was kicking off well. The market side was eventually shut do
This cozy restaurant is an enjoyable place to be out with friends or family. Multiple TV's so you won't miss the game and a nice selection of adult beverages. Particularly liked their Bloody Mary's. Food was very good but with smallish portions, but the prices were very acceptable so you could order more than one item if your real hungry. Gumbo was excellent, They have several good shrimp dishes. Fried green tomatoes are wonderful and the cheese grits are good. If you like oysters but cant eat a full order you can order a half. Would definitely go again.

Everything I have had here before has been delicious. Steaks, seafood, fish tacos, burgers - there is something for everyone. Make sure to get the Powerful Stuff for dessert. I don't usually get desserts but this is to die for. The service is always great.

Firebirds truly has one of the best Happy Hours in the Hoover area. From 4-6:30 they offer "Bar Bites" at a really low price. My friends and I regularly order one app each and just share. We live more than filled. The Bavarian pretzel is HUGE and serves as a meal in itself. The beef sliders are also delicious. you get three mini burgers so perfect to share. They also have all their signature drinks for $7 and a special martini for $5 if you're into pineapple flavored drinks. They don't skimp on the alcohol either which is typical in my experience. The service is great. One piece of advice...arrive early. They only offer these prices in the bar area or the patio, NOT in the regular dining area. It's first come first served and people seem to "camp out" once they get a table. Give it a try!

Love these fresh burgers! Huge, juicy and cooked perfectly with wide variety of toppings, easily one of top 5 burgers in Birmingham. Seasoned fries are great, free refills, cute atmosphere!

Ribs. Pork. Chicken. Brisket. Hell, even sausage. All BBQ has the same three basic ingredients: smoke, meat and time. What makes it different is the amount, consideration and attention to each part of that recipe. That, and some really great bbq sauce, too. At Jim ‘N Nick’s, we pride ourselves on using the right ingredients, taking our time and honoring the traditions that brought us barbecue.
Good quality food, good service. They have a lunch menu with a variety of selections. Some favorites from this visit were the cheese biscuits, bbq chips, ribs and piggie in a garden salad. Plenty of sauce on the table. White sauce available upon request. We almost didn’t go in because the parking lot was so packed. We were seated immediately. The hostess told me to not let the small parking lot fool me.

We had to stop in after reading the reviews. We shared a pizza among 3 people. I personally didn't like the style of pizza. The crust wasn't bready enough for me. The pizza was good but definitely not worth the price. It didn't have exceptional flavor or size that made me think it should be $30.

We went here to celebrate our daughter's birthday and our anniversary. We started out by sharing two appetizers, bang bang shrimp and saucy shrimp. Both were excellent. Our outstanding server, Darian, suggested that the sauce on the saucy shrimp was really good with the bread. She was definitely correct. My wife and daughter both had the shrimp and scallops combination with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach as their sides. My son-in -law had the fish and chips. I had the tilapia stuffed with shrimp and scallops. My sides were scalloped potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. We all were very pleased with our dinners. For desert we had the Key lime pie and the coconut pie both of which were wonderful. The restaurant was crowded, but the noise level was quite low, so the ambiance was good, the food was very good, and our server Darian was outstanding. Since it was a birthday and an anniversary celebration, the manager brought us two small boxes of chocolates which were also very good.

Its no wonder they've been around for so long the food here is excellent. The meat is cooked to perfection and the sauce is great not to mention the fried pies. Every staff member was so kind and helpful. Definitely worth going.

Owner/chef is actually from Taipei (capital of Taiwan) and not a different type of Asian claiming to be "Chinese."
Would have given a 5 but the chefs real skill are not shown through the menu and also not the prettiest looking place. Once the owners wife or Chinese server knew I spoke Chinese, I was able to make off menu requests that didn't disappoint.
Food is authentic and yum

I had lunch on the balcony and ordered the red beans and rice. They were a little soupy but otherwise good. The service was very good and the hostess was friendly and polite. I would like to stop back by and try The jambalaya.
