In 1968, we were just a local BBQ joint in Gainesville, Florida. Today, we're still a local BBQ joint. We just happen to be in a few more locations. But we still do things the same way Floyd "Sonny" Tillman and his wife, Lucille, did back then. We still slow-smoke over oak for up to 12 hours at a time. We still serve generous portions. And we still believe people should be able to go out to eat and feel right at home.
Service was good at Sonny's, but the food was fairly average. Florida City has a fair number of average restaurants, and Sonny's is certainly one of them. I had some sort of pulled pork sandwich. It was nothing special. In fact back in Wisconsin (generally not know for it's barbeque) I've had better pulled pork sandwiches. If you're looking for good barbeque, I would look elsewhere.

We were recommended to visit this place and it really was a great find - especially if you eat fruit and vegetables and also if you have children.
The quality of the fruit and vegetables to purchase were excellent and such a large choice. There are also sauces and dressings to buy in bottles but the absolute big plus to this place is the sale of fruit shakes. wow wow wow - totally delicious. Not cheap but the quality is phenomenal.
At the rear of the store is a play area for children and a mini zoo almost with turtles, parrots, chickens and cattle. There is also a light aircraft and a tractor for the children to climb on.
You need to park on the roadside as there is no car park, and this is a really busy place so be prepared for a short walk along the road.
A great experience.
I would very much recommend that you visit there.
There was a live singer late afternoon when we were there

It's the last Starbucks before the Key Largo starts (mainland Florida ends). Great place to stop by for a break, especially if you are coming through route 27 and 997.
The staff is great and very friendly. More importantly, the lady who attended us had the smartness and sensitivity to take off whipped cream from our order of Mocha Frappe after learning that we have asked for Almond Milk (vegan Frappe). At other places, even after saying that we want a vegan version of something, the person taking order doesn't have the brains to let us know at least other dairy products that are getting used while making our order.
We visited this place twice and on both the occasions I used the restroom. It was quite clean and things were well maintained, except that it was out of soap on both the occasions.
They have outdoor seating available in addition to a large indoor seating area. Inside, it is pretty much like a standard Starbucks with their products on display and for sale. They have some of their own barista creations which can be tried. We stuck to our regular choices.

When that 'Hot Now' sign is on, pull in and get yourself at least one! The drive-thru is quick and service is friendly. Only bad thing is that there is usually a guy begging for food or money in the parking lot.

Ordered 2 old fashion with coffee and as usual excellent gracious service and place was busy but very clean. Keeping up great tradition of this icon chain.

Yardie Spice Restaurant offers quality authentic Jamaican & Haitian food daily from Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays). It is owned and managed by JP and his wife. JP is Haitian and his wife is from the island of Jamaica. The couple has being in food and beverage business for over thirty years. They are very proud to have a kitchen with no "microwave".
If you are looking for a fancy place this isn’t for you BUT if you like a small restaurant with great food this is it. The husband is the waiter and general all around guy while his wife does the cooking. We asked him for suggestions since we are not familiar with Jamaican/ Haitian cuisine and he was very nice and helpful with suggestions that gave us a taste of polenta, rice and beans, snapper and jerk chicken. It was all delicious! This is not a fancy place and it maybe could use a little sprucing up with place mats and glass drinking glasses rather than a plastic water bottle. The table we sat at was slightly sticky I am sure because of the frying in the kitchen....

Perhaps our disappointment this visit was the menu items that we ordered. It just was not the outstanding meal that we have previously enjoyed.
The service was good.
The menu pricing is also somewhat high.....but the place only seats maybe 20-25 people, so they may have to charge more to make ends meet.
We might give them another try when in the area next year, but we will also be looking for some options.

The O'Deeny's Caribbean Restaurant's mission is to serve quality - food and beverages, have outstanding customer service, run and maintain a cost efficient base without sacrificing quality. O'Deeny's Caribbean Restaurant will serve high quality food and beverages in an inviting and friendly atmosphere at reasonable prices.
I really like this restaurant because it has the taste of a home cooked meal. My favorite is the jerk chicken, you can tell there was love put into it! I always recommend this place, while in Florida City.

Shiver's BBQ is a family-owned and operated restaurant in Homestead, Fl. It has been serving authentic hickory smoked barbecue for over 50 years! Family generations have grown up eating here. Shiver's specializes in slow smoked meats such as baby back ribs, pork spare ribs, beef ribs, chicken, beef brisket, pork, and more. Many items, such as the pulled pork, have been smoked for 12 hours or more! This process ensures that each bite will be tasty and tender all the way through.
I will dream of the cornbread soufflé from Shivers for the rest of my life. The baby back ribs are also amazing. If this place existed in Toronto, I would go every few weeks.
Picnic bench style tables so you are sitting next to anyone. Place is super loud and boisterous, but that’s part of its ambiance.
Don’t think twice. Just go.

We have been there during our Florida´s trip.
From outside does not look really interesting...and perhaps you could also hesitate to enter...don´t do it...enter...food is delicious.
The service is really friendly and out of line.
There are several dishes and you will have to decide what to eat cause portion are big and price are acceptable.
