Took the Rivercat ferry up river from Circular Quay, Sydney to the last stop inland at Parramatta. Lovely 40 minutes trip! At the ferry terminal we found, on a great site overlooking the river, the Port Bar Restaurant. Lovely outdoor spacious shaded terrace. Really good menu, super king prawn in spicy chill tomato sauce starter with lots of crusty bread followed by a good blue cheese gnocchi, Cold beer and prosecco a must! Very friendly and attentive staff. Well priced as well. Worth a visit!

Blink and you miss this quaint new jap place. Original menu of sorts but avoid Wagu beef bento, it tasted & looked like shaved kebab meat, the other bentos were nice. Traditional jap music BUT please turn down to background vocalised sound level it became overwnelming to the point of annoying.

I work in the area and would LOVE to go here more, but I've had 2 bad experiences on both times I've been there with colleagues. Its mostly around the food there as the beer garden out front is actually quite nice. Its inside thats the problem. The first experience was horrendous as it was a chinese fusion / pub meal restaurant - and if I said that was diabolical I wouldn't be cutting it short. All I can remember was the watered down 'gravy' (at least it was supposed to be) - and after that it went downhill fast. Every meal was wrong - and cold - and we all left scratching our heads and hungry. On my next visit I sweated going in to be pleasantly surprised they were no longer running the kitchen. The food was still slow but at least I could eat it this time - which I guess is a plus. The interior needs a good makeover - however its probably best you go sit outside as that area does look half decent. Problem for this Tavern is there are so many other great choices in Parra - so I cant see how they can come back. Anyway - maybe I will in the new year.
