There are many different kind of Soba in Japan. Some are more refined, some are more wild and some are in the middle. Here, you can enjoy slightly wild but also smooth and refined. Nagano is famous for good Soba but please remember that Hokkaido is also a huge and tasteful Soba, buckwheat flour producer.

Arriving at the hotel briefly after 6 pm after a long journey we head for dinner immediately. Unfortunately, since the resort is located in a rather remote area most people would dine in the nearby restaurants. There were queues at all the restaurants. While some of us would like to explore further we start to queue at this restaurant for six of us. There seems to have vacant tables but they were full of plates waiting for clean up. The restaurant was short of staff to serve the customers. The entrance is quite small especially when peoples were queuing there waiting to be serve. It took more than 40 min for us to have a table. Steaks were served on a plate with a cube of hot rock so one can heat a piece of steak on the rock to the appropriate tenderness. However, before one finished a steak the rock was already cool and defeat its purpose. The restaurant emphasis on its supply of famous Japanese beef. However, I am afraid it was not up to a standard that I tried in other 'local' restaurants in Japan.
My second visit to "Shinta" for seafood bowl and crab dishes inside Hoshino Resort Tomamu. This small restaurant seats 32 people. I was also here last time I stayed in this resort. We were just so satisfied with the standard of food and had to recommend to cousins and come back for more. This restaurant does different sizes of bowl, small, medium or large. After you are seated, the staff will come round with them and explains. It tells you the level of rice to the bowl and how much seafood you will get. The menu is uploaded on the hotel website. We ordered three seafood bowls as well as grill snow crab and fried chicken. I much prefer the grill snow crab which was tasty, remained juicy and sweet. The sea urchin was fresh and delicious too! For those who find raw seafood or crab too much, there are cooked food such as fried chicken grilled fish on the menu too. Shinta is a restaurant that I would recommend to be a must visit restaurant if you are inside the resort and if you are a fan of snow crab and sea urchin, this is a place you cannot miss. The food is truly stunning and I haven't seen anywhere else's seafood bowl with such generous portion. I wouldn't say this is a particularly expensive restaurant with what they give too. The waiter speaks good English and great service. Highly recommended.

This is one of the restaurants located in Tomamu Resort. We had 3 out of the 4 dinners while we were at Tomamu Resort for the simple reason they had many different kind of food and all reasonably priced. It's an izakaya restaurant. My favourite kind! There was sashimi, hotpot, grilled fish, deep fried food, noodles, etc. They are open only for dinner and no reservation allowed. Had to wait about 40 mins on the first night we were there. So for the next 2 nights, we had our dinner earlier at 5pm (Opening time) and didn't have to wait at all. You can charge the bill to your room and they also accept the resort's vouchers. Good service, delicious food and great drinks!
We had vouchers for this breakfast place and it was very good They had a comprehensive selection of traditional Japanese Hokkaido style food and the best omelettes done in a square pan that Iâve seen and eaten. You could always select some more traditional Western style foods but the bacon never seemed hot but I thought it was tasty The standout fruit was fresh orange and mandarin segments dressed with a sweet dill sauce. The staff were fantastic and greeted you with great big smiles every morning. One feature that made us laugh was the calling out of fresh deliveries to the buffet and then repeated by all the chefs and servers it was a hoot.

A quiet little restaurant/cafe located in the Shimukappu Michi-no-eki (Road Station) about 5 minutes from the DO-TO Expressway Shimukappu Interchange. The restaurant uses Hokkaido-raised beef and dairy products in its cuisine and the famous North Plain Fa

Super fresh curry soups on this menu are prepared while you wait from the freshest of ingredients and the finest of spices. You can choose just about any ingredient of the comprehensive list and the spice levels rating from 1 to 5 - 5 being make your ears bleed one being a mild and tempting flavour Beers and wine are a little expensive but that seems to be the way. We ended up buying alcohol from the vending machines at very cheap prices and had them before and after. The service was great
It seemed that every time we walked past this restaurant there was a line stretching out the door and sometimes around the corner, clearly this was a restaurant that was favoured by many and it proved to be outstanding in terms of the variety, quality of both service and food and happy bustle of the obviously satisfied clientele Good value!

We had high hopes that this was gonna be the best dinner in Tomamu resort. Unfortunately, it was nothing that great. The usual buffet spreads and the highlights were the raw salmon with ikura handroll, grill wagyu and king crab legs. Personally, I find all 3 dishes a bit too salty for my taste. Yet these highlights weren't that great considering the price of the buffet. Not to mention average waiting time for the steak and crab when we were there was about 10 minutes.Lastly, the restaurant was pack and although we made reservations, they couldn't find it but it was resolved after 30 mins. What a waste of time.
