We took a very good conducted tour of this lovely house - led by Baroness von Bretano. It has an incredible history as the summer house of the Bretano family who were patrons of the Romantic poets . It has a strong association with Goethe who was a regular visitor and close friend of Bettine von Arnim ( a Bretano daugher ). Very evocative and interesting.

Modern, but cosy place at the old train station in Assmansshausen. Service is very personal and friendly. The pizza was outstanding, like in Italy. We couldn't remember when last we had such great pizza. Lots of other fantastic dishes. The wine selection of white wine is a bit limited, red wine menu is good. The noise of the passing trains is the only disturbance of an outstanding experience.

Overall they offered a nice choice of small dishes, some typical Spanish tapas, some more international or even German interpretations. Some were really good and others just OK. Some of the dishes were a bit on the oily side and sometimes the tastes could have been more differentiated. It is a place worth trying. Te service was friendly and fast.

We dined here one evening of our three night stay, but we did feel the restaurant was off the mark of our expectations, considering the restaurant in the adjoining room, was Michelin star rated. The onion tarte offered as a starter, was a large serving, that we fortunately shared, as the size of the offering would satisfy most peopleâs meal requirements. The 200 gram rump steaks, requested to be cooked medium and medium well, was undercooked, and whilst we asked for the medium well to be cooked a little more, we certainly did not expect the kitchen to discard the first meal completely, replace the whole plate, which of course meant the other meal was finished, before the recooked meal came out.We understand a chef has pride in a meal that leaves the kitchen, but it should have been cooked better in the first place...

The food of course was fantastic, the service was over the top, and the atmosphere was beautiful! Even the walk from the parking lot to the restaurant was beautiful! Bingen is a beautiful little town with many nice restaurants, we are living in the Frankfurt area and love frequenting this area. The "Mouse Castle" is one of the famous land marks here. I write on traveling in Germany and Europe, my name is Debra LeCompte, and you can easily find so many great places to see in Germany and all of Europe!

We were visiting friends and took a ferry/cable car round trip. We ended the day by eating here at Meteora. The service was wonderful, the food fabulous! We were treated like returning friends. The meal was ended with each of us getting ouzo on the house. We'd come back here for sure if we were back in the area.

Kleines Restaurant mit guter Küche. Auch Catering
A small restaurant in Oestrich-Winkel that serves Italian cuisine. Everything was made from fresh. Great meals, great atmosphere and great values. The patio sitting provides intimate surrounding with large trees, candles, but most of all, the tables aren't so closed to each other so no eavesdropping of the neighbor's conversation. If I had to critic, the only think I could think of is the lack of parking space. We had to park 2 blocks away from this tiny restaurant. But all in all it was best!

I am not sure that I would describe this as 'a gem' as a previous reviewer has seen fit to do so. Staying at the nearby NH Hotel I sought a lunch venue for a solo and hungry traveler to see him through to dinner-time. The Calimero was available on a Sunday afternoon in an otherwise deserted little town. But it would be unfair to describe it as 'any port in a storm', nor could I realistically rate it without tasting its wider range of culinary offerings. I wanted a pizza and it is only upon that basis that I can assess the venue. The pizza was good, thin based, crispy, not soggy in the middle and a glass of Italian red was dry and reasonably rounded. For â¬12 it did the job. The place was clean, well patronised by locals (a good sign) and the staff were pleasant and efficient. If I was trying out some more demanding dishes I might be raising the rating to four, but for what I had it was fair-to-good.

Terrific food and the chef and server were able to cater to gluten free, dairy free and vegan dietary needs without batting an eye. Everyone at the table was happy, and this was only days after the restaurant opening!
