Ob Schnitzel oder Steak, ob Hausmannskost aller Art oder Schlachtplatte - im Spälterwald bekommt man alles ganz frisch und ganz sicher nur aus der Region. Der Wirt, der gleichzeitig Metzgermeister ist, und sein Team legen extrem viel Wert auf Qualität. Meine Familie und ich kommen nun schon in dritter Generation dort hin und sind immer sehr zufrieden gewesen und ich bin mir sicher, werden das auch in Zukunft sein.

We discovered the restaurant when they were providing recipes for Lufthansa years ago. Since then we have been coming here from time to time and have never been disappointed. This is not an up-market, chic restaurant but a solid family-run place where you can get a decent meal at a reasonable price. We prefer the traditional dishes (such as turkey breast in November) and have twice been for Christmas dinner.The service is efficient and friendly and the main room very cosy. I don't know if they speak English but anyone getting to this neck of the woods probably understands enough basic German to get by.

Good traditional German food and nice wines from the local Odenwald Bergstrasse. Really cosy and friendly atmosphere.

This is a lovely family run restaurant/small hotel that offers pony rides for the little ones. It is set in an idyllic (if the sun is shining) part of the Odenwald on a hill with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. It is aimed primarily at families with small children and other than the pony rides there is a playing area with swings, slide and a zip-wire. Also some goats and sheep nearby. The restaurant is rustic but very clean and very nicely presented tableware. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Throughout the year they offer seasonal attractions (see their Website) and in August an excellent BBQ buffet on Thursday and Friday evenings. A good variety of meats (including lamb) is available with jacket potatoes various sauces and a salad bar, excellently cooked and good value for money. At the weekends it can be very busy so get there early!

We traveled from Canada to Germany last May and came across this hidden Gem. The best food we had was at Zur Rose. The schnitzel and steak were unbelievable. The food portions were very generous. The hosts Hans and Christine made us feel like we were family. I would definitely recommend a visit to Zur Rose

This restaurant is located in a nice country setting.But once you get inside Everything feels depressingly old.The decor, the furnitue and worst of all - the menu.It´s like choosing stright of of a meny from the 1960´s.And once you get the food it looks and tastes like something from the era.The guests were almost all very old , so maybe the restaurant has found the right touch, but...Service was slow and staff inattentive.The only modern bit was the price.

We arrived fairly late but were greeted nicely and could sit out in the beer garden over looking the valley. The waitress was helpful and we could choose for the varied typically German menu. I had stag steak with salad and my wife a grilled pork salad. Such a still warm evening listening to the birds singing. We washed it down with apple juice.

Top in the Odenwald this restaurant offers not only a good food, also a very good view is served. In the summer with a nice terrace. The restaurant offers a seasonal menue and also regional dishes. Good taste!
