I do not normally dine in the hotel that I am based in, as my ratings for most hotels' kitchens would be adequate at best! I am happy to say that I was proved wrong in this instance - I had to use the facilities here due to logistics, but was glad I did. The choice was enormous - different counters ranging from traditional Chinese cuisine to seafood/Sushi bar, fresh fruit counters, South Asia counters, dessert counters and more. Everything we tasted was of exceptional quality, and several dishes were of even higher quality than that! Amongst the dishes of exceptional standard was the braised beef with red and green chilies, all of the duck dishes as well as a very fine Green Thai curry. Price/quality was excellent - breakfast was also of this high standard. A very well done to the Executive Chef and his team!
We stayed at Crowne Plaza Zhengzhou when there are a lot of construction right in front of our hotel. Walking across the street to eat at local restaurants become quite a chore. We have 2 toddlers, one of which we just adopted. Navigating crossing the street just does not appeal to us. This restaurant is right next door to Crowne Plaza, in Holiday Inn Express. It is clean and just slightly more expensive than other local restaurants. The dishes are quite small, especially if you order the cold dishes. Everything we ordered tasted great. They also give out generous discount coupons for return visits.
For Dayali Roast Duck (DongFeng Road) it's all in the name - the roasted duck here is mouth watering good ...

This eatery is situated inside the Hilton in Zhengzhou. Access is super easy by taxi.I ordered a garden salad, tomato soup, spaghetti Bolognaise and glass of hot water. My wife ordered a burger. The garden salad was edible, but was marked by a lengthy stay in a fridge. I got a brain freeze from the garden salad. How about using fresh ingredients for the salad? The tomato soup was okay, but far too bitter.I had to return the spaghetti Bolognaise to the kitchen. The minced meat part of this dish tasted and smelled, I don't want to use the poo-word, but let me say it tasted and smelled offensive. It was the taste of the local Chinese beef that you will find in ramen eateries for three or four RMB a bowl.I contemplated for a second if I should order a burger like the one my wife ordered, but when I checked her burger, it was the same meat. Instead I ordered a club sandwich. There were lots of dishes I was unable to order, as they were pre-made with all the spices added, meaning the food was as a rule not fresh. Then a few words about the glass of hot water: It was heated tap water, with a distinct bouquet of chlorine. The club sandwich was lifeless.Had the price level been more moderat, this review would have been more forgiving, but the a la carte menu was priced above mid-level and the restaurant is situated inside the Hilton. I had frankly speaking expected better, far better. The staff was extremely becoming. But they cannot save this place. This eatery may safely be avoided. My advice to the management is: Hire a European educated chef! Please accept my sincere apologies for your disappointing experience, Feedback such as yours is a vital element to our success and let us understand guests expectations. Thank you for bringing your observations to my attention so we can continue to work on areas where we may have opportunity. I hope you will consider staying with us again so we may better demonstrate our commitment to your satisfaction.

The service at Haidilao is amazing. The food is spectacular. It is truly unlike any other hotpot restaurant. You can order with an iPad. They have an incredible sauce bar, and the entertainment during the meal is very different than anything I've seen before. Reasonable prices for the service. If you have been in China a while, I definitely recommend going here for a change of routine!
