First of all,I must say that it is a good example of the local German restaurants in the country.Having been welcomed warmly and friendly,I was disappointed after waiting for two hours for my meal to come and in return the answer was only "Tut mir leid." And also I was with my little boy who was starving,I ordered pommes the one which I thought would be served the fastest,I hadn't known that I had to wait for one and a half hour to come. The families with the kids should be served faster,as the little ones aren't as patient as we are. Thanks God I had some Brezeln in my bag.
The caring and the friendly atmosphere was good, though. The Cheffin took care of us whenever she could find time. The beer was good, and they were also friendly when I dropped the sauce on the white table veil. And also it was very kind of them to serve my son's orange juice as a present.

For the 2 weeks I been in heidenheim, I have my dinner there every day. The ambient is great and the waiters are very nice and helpful. I recommend also, because they have good food and not at considerable good prices. I recommend it!

I love Greek food, and this is a wonderful place to meet friends. Great food, great service, generous amounts and complimentary ouzo.

The view was so beautiful that it tookour breath away. Too bad the quality of the food did not live up to the view. We were a party of five people and four of our dishes had to be sent back to the kitchen, and one of those was plain Spaetzle. It is a crime to get spaetzle wrong in Swabia, but that's exactly what they did. It tasted like a a mound of salt. The soup was as salty as sea water. The french fries tasted like a mound of salt. And the sauce for one of the dishes tasted like a mound of salt. And I do not mean just a little salty -- I mean totally and completely inedible; one of us spit put the food because she could not swallow it! We asked for the french fries to be served without salt -- and it addly came normally, nicely salted. We asked whether the regular chef was in the kitchen, and was told yes, it is the regular kitchen crew that prepared our meal. While waiting for our food, we noticed the dry, nearly dead potted trees through out the restaurant. It was so depressing to look at them. Where is the attention to detail? Yes, I know that that Christmas is only a few days away and that those trees will be thrown away, but don't they know what a negative impression it makes to the diners to have to eat among a bunch of neglected potted plants? My in laws live in Steinheim and we come to Heidenheim often. But neither they nor us will be back to this restaurant. They should be ashamed of themselved...

My family and I discovered the Pfauen Weinstube via Trip Advisor as we were making the long journey back from northern Germany to Switzerland.
My husband and I were greeted by a very kind and friendly woman (whom I assume was the owner), who gave us a perfect table for us and our two young daughters (6 & 17 months). Throughout the duration of our stay, the comfort of our children was of highest importance to the service team- we did not feel like we were posing an inconvenience in the dining room.
The food was really fantastic. The best of the local Swabian kitchen can be tasted here including hand made spätzle and maultaschen. We chose venison dishes (Hirsch) that were really delicious. Everything was very fresh and all of the sauces were homemade.
We felt genuinely welcome and warmly cared for. We can highly recommend this restaurant to families (and anyone wishing to eat high quality regional cuisine).

When in Heidenheim, visit to Palazzo is recommended, specially if you wish to have Italian meal. Disappointing of course is the differentiation of portions of one and the same dish at the same table.

Arriving late into Heidenheim, the La Strada was almost the only restaurant in the pedestrian zone open at 2.30pm for lunch. We sat outside on the cobblestone street.
The waiter was friendly, helpful and happy to recommend. He urged us to order quickly before the kitchen closed.
The food arrived, promptly and I must admit the lasagne was great. Big serving - big enough for 2 people.... The pasta my friend ordered was really good, too !
Cold beers, reasonable prices, personable staff and satisfying food. Great combination.! The only downside was the minor construction repair sites along the pedestrian street.
Recommended if you want good Italian food in Heidenheim. Give it a try.
