Reviews on Hawaiian food in Waimea, Hawaii, United States. The Kamuela area of the Big Island has been inhabited for tens of thousands of years. Now known for opulent resorts, luxurious spas, dramatic golf courses, historic former cattle farms and breathtaking nature reserves, Kamuela is a largely unspoiled gem. Mauna Kea Resort Golf Course is the top choice for going green. Other relaxing activities include checking into Spa Without Walls and Mauna Lani Spa, or stretching out on Hapuna Beach. A rental car is the best way to explore Kamuela's many attractions.

One of my images of Hawai'i burst... reasonable priced local produce. Paid way too much (in my mind) for a cup of coconut water. Tasty though, but expensive for something that falls out of a tree!
This guy knows food. I can't believe how good this was! I got the kraut, the Chicago and the what's shaken bacon. All three unbelievable.

My husband loved the Loco Moco, and he considers himself an expert. This is a cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The food is excellent. Easy stop on the way to the Waimea Valley.
Read about their Luau in an email from Hawaii Magazine rated as number one of five on the Big Island. Showed up to discover it was being held in their ballroom because they had a number of events going on that night. In 16 years of annual trips to Hawaii, Iâve never had one held indoors... too strange and the wrong atmosphere. We called for the Hotel manager, Kansas, who was gracious and offered a full refund. Kansas was excellent in explaining the venue change, apologized, and handled the problem well. He invited us to have dinner at one of their restaurants which we enjoyed at Manta overlooking the ocean and sunset... birthday evening was enjoyed.

It was very pleasant sitting here at night after the sunset (you can't really see the sunset unobstructed from here as there is a footpath in front of the restaurant and people stop there to take pictures). Cool breeze. Drinks were good. The hummus was excellent as were the burgers we enjoyed. The lilikoi sorbet was very good!Mahalo Maggie for dining with us at Hale Kai! We appreciate you sharing your experience! Warmest aloha, Tara Harrington, Director of Guest Experience

Expect a little wait but worth it. Also expect to take some home. Great cheery service. Decided to try this on our way to several excellent farmer's markets in the area. A local recommended it. Meals are served on oval turkey platters. I like crispy bacon and theirs is deep fried so it is definitely crispy. As you can see from pictures portions are huge. I had the 2 eggs, corned beef hash, and french toast. The hash was served thin and crispy - very good but after seeing the kailua pork hash over fried rice that would be my recommendation. The french toast is a sweet bread but just standard stuff. They didn't leave it in the egg long enough to soak into the bread. Over medium eggs were perfect. I tried the hash browns- also large helping. The real surprise is their side of pancakes that comes with most egg meals. the serve 2 on these large oval platters. Nice and fluffy. The menu includes loco mocos and an assortment of meats like portuguese sausage and blood sausage. The menu was large enough to get you back for several different breakfasts and lunches.

Located in the heart of the Big Islands farm community is Peter Merriman's original restaurant; Merriman's Waimea. Chef/Owner Peter Merriman is one of the founders of Hawaii Regional Cuisine and uses 90% or more of local produce, fish and beef. All dishes
We have dined at Merrimanâs on Maui and on Kauai, each different from the other. This Big Island location, the original, is different yet. Interesting starters of quesadilla and Israeli salad. The Parker Ranch steaks were amazing and beautifully prepared. Not usually a fan of mashed potatoes, I was pleased that mine were seasoned lightly with jalapeno. Cozy place, great menu and pleasant server.
