We had eaten at Casanova Bistro in Kahului shortly after landing and picking up our rental car. We were so pleased with our experience there that we were eagerly anticipating our dinner reservation at Casanova’s Makawao restaurant which was named the best Italian restaurant in all of Hawaii in 2016! I ordered the gnocchi strozzapreti which consisted of 7 large ricotta and spinach dumplings served with both a homemade tomato sauce and a creamy gorgonzola cheese sauce ($14.00). It was so good that I wished for more! My wife chose the tonne fresco, a filet of fresh Ahi tuna, seared and served with tomatoes, olives and capers over arugula ($34.00). Tips: (1) Make a reservation and ask to be seated at one of the tables along the panoramic windows overlooking a lush garden (pictured here) at the rear of the dining room. (2) You can get a carafe (about ½ bottle) of wine during happy hour (5:00-6:00pm) for just $5.00.Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in such details. Serpico's Pizzeria and Restaurant

Stopped here coming down from Haleakalā and it was a very pleasant surprise. The pizza was absolutely delicious...we ordered pepperoni!! However, the pasta looked great too, and the portions were ginormous!!! We saw just about everyone leaving with doggie bags!!! The service was fantastic and both servers were very nice. They greeted with fresh breadsticks and marinara sauce. A must when in the upcountry and you’re craving Italian dishes.

Flatbread Company

I have reviewed Flatbread a few times before but had to review again because 5 years after our first experience there this still continues to be an absolute favourite! The pizzas are delicious, the drinks are scrumptious, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. This is a wonderful restaurant whether you are travelling with family or with friends. For the kids there is the opportunity to colour pictures that actually go in the menus or play with dough or watch the pizzas being made or put in the big open oven. Everything is local, organic, and fresh. The salad there is sooo tasty and one of the best vinaigrette’s I have had anywhere. Made from scratch with pineapple. I love their fresh juices that have no additives, just straight up delicious organic juice. They are also extremely accommodating to any food allergies or sensitivities. Pizzas are creative and tasty. My husbands favourite is the Mopsy’s Pulled Pork. I love the Pele Pesto. I would eat here every day if it was an option. So good! There is only one small downside and that is that the bathrooms here were quite unclean on our last couple visits. However, because I loved every other aspect of the restaurant so much it wasn’t enough to detract from continuing to earn them a 5 star review.
