This sushi bar is in a neighborhood strip mall. It features a conveyor belt sending a variety of sushi and other dishes around the bar. There is also a large menu of other dishes. The food is excellent, the staff friendly, and the parking free. If you are staying in Waikiki but want to avoid the higher prices and get the feel of a local place, this is a great place to try. It is not far from Hanauma Bay so you can stop here for dinner on your way back from the bay.

HOPA is a Hawaiian treat shop best known for its all-natural, homemade, real fruit shave ice served with Pure Aloha daily. HOPA Aina Haina is our first and original House launched in 2011 in Aina Haina Shopping Center. At HOPA our mission is to cultivate Pure Aloha one person, relationship, and community at a time.
A perennial local favorite. You can choose your own combinations or go with preset ones they have.
The portions are good as is the flavor of the syrups. But I did not think they rise above other shave ice etablishments on this (or other islands).
Where they excelled, hovever, is the super nice and friendly staff.

This is NY-style pizza do don't walk in expecting this. This is more like a flat calzone with Hawaii-inspired ingredients. Overall very good - like a Subway for pizza. A bit on the expensive side.

We have been to BYOB numerous times and always enjoy the food. The "asian" bowls have very fresh ingredients and excellent flavor. Service is always good and effective. If you cannot decide they have a variety of pre-configured bowls to choose from. Love the concept, love the food!

It's been awhile, but L&L was calling our name. It's great they now accept credit cards. Although the wait was long the Mochiko and BBQ chicken plates were worth the wait. Why have we neglected this place?!? To be sure we won't delay our next visit.

I found this on a list of things to eat in Honolulu in the Huffington Post. This was about 30 minutes drive out of Waikiki. We got a strawberry cheesecake ice-cream in a cone and mochi ice cream (which they're meant to be famous for) in green tea, strawberry and mango. I liked the waffle cone and ice cream enough, but it wasn't amazing. The mochi ice cream was really disappointing though! The ice cream had no flavour. I much prefer the store-bought one.

We stopped here after a hike with my dog on a Sunday morning. Super cute outdoor/indoor seating area! Quite popular! We ordered a chicken sandwich and acai bowl with teas. Everything was amazing! Cute atmosphere and it's dog friendly which was a HUGE plus! Can't wait to go back!

Ono Steaks and Shrimp Shack is located just off the main street in Waimanalo. If you are going to the beach (which you definitely should because Waimanalo is the best all-around beach on the island), stop by this local restaurant and pick up a terrific lunch. I would recommend the Garlic Shrimp and Steak. It is full of locals so it must be good, right? The Fried Shrimp are also very good. It is very casual and affordable. We always stop when we make a visit to Waimanalo Beach. You should do so too!
