Someone wrote last year that this restaurant was closed. It always has been on a Saturday night. Thank heavens is it not 'closed' as we have been visiting for years travelling with our MotorHome to Cambrai. Olivier Gaulupeau and his marvellous staff keep us coming back, A fantastic little walk for anyone camping at the 'trois cloches' site - so, instead of dining at the Buffalo Grill outside the camp site - walk up to Aldi/Lidll and then through their car park to cross the main road which will bring you to the Canal before crossing the bridge. Le Grill is almost next door to a little pub which faces the canal. Fabulous food and wine - always - at a very, very reasonable price. This little restaurant is much loved by the local french people - and by us!

7 of use booked in for dinner at 7pm. The Bistro was empty which meant that we had the undivided attention of the staff. the service and food were very good and the atmosphere quickly changed as the place filled up. It was noticeable that main of the patrons were locals which in my book is always a good sign. The wine and local beer was good.

Our first night in France after having travelled for 24+ hours. It was a delight to visit this restaurant and the greeting was lovely. We were warmly welcomed and everything was explained in an excellent dialogue between all of us in French and English. Very good quality food which is well presented. Service very good. Would happily recommend. Probably a little on the more expensive side it very good value. Well done.

A bit of a let down, in previous restaurants weâve experienced much better service, the English owner when we asked about the various dishes on the menu we were informed that he didnât know anything about the food, he seemed more interested in entertaining us with English songs & just before we left he was going to start to play the piano. Two of our orders were wrong & we had tasted better food. This is not a place I would recommend.I was sorry to hear that you did not appreciate the spirit of our establishment. It is true that our chef misread my hieroglyphics and so the order was not correct. I did offer to change the erroneous dishes but you said it was not important. I have not found out to this day the difference between Onglet and Bavette stakes, The rest of our menu I know by heart. I do not accept the criticism of the quality of our meals as can be seen from other critiques. The spirit of the house is good simple cooking. We do not pretend to be a Michelin rated restaurant. Once more sorry that our maison was not to your liking. David Smith

The food is always good here. I have been three times now and it is always superb. I love the idea of different wines by glass on each menu degastation. The service is spot on. Patrice Demarcq walked around twice chatting to his customers - a lovely touch. The youngest waiter needs more training, to serve wine from the right, food from the left and not to stretch across customers for any reason. I will always go there when I visit my friend in Cambrai. You need to book up. There are very few tables.

Sunday noon. Luckily a table for two is still available (booking upfront seems recommended) The place is packed with locals. A large family having a birthday party. Another family dining with granny and grandpa. Kids running around. The fire place fills the rooms with a glow. The interior looks like an old cafe. Very authentic. The food is great. The portions are large. Local dishes. Very tasty. Prices are reasonable. The service is very nice and friendly. We recommend !

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were brought an amuse bouche which contained shellfish, we were allergic so declined them but a fresh one was brought very quickly.Their service was good, attentive but not rushed. The meal was good, tasty and well presented. We were delighted by the service we received.

We were beginning to despair of French country cooking after two weeks in Burgundy at local, but not expensive, restaurants, and this was the perfect end to our holiday as we worked our way home.Surprising was that it was quiet for a Saturday, though we eat early for the continentals, but it deserved to be busier.Excellent helpful and friendly service accompanied by food that was not only presented by a chef who felt some pride in what left his kitchen, but tasty too.A starter of smoked salmon and avocado was not the plain fare one might have imagined, and imaginatively delivered it was too, packed with flavour, as was, apparently, my wife's snails in garlic. I followed with the veal in sauce which was delicious and my wife a steak (why?) and we finished with Coffee gourmand for me and chocolate fondant for her, again, I won!We left France feeling that all was not lost for those eating at places where a second mortgage was needed.

We ate here on Sunday evening as our hotel restaurant was closed. Looks more like a café than a restaurant but it was full of locals, which is always a good sign. Prices were very reasonable, including the wine (we had two bottles between three of us. We had the seafood platter (which was enormous) Magret de Canard, and I had Potflesch All were delicious and service was good and friendly - I would certainly eat here again when we come back in June

Thank goodness for TA because without it and the reviews you would walk past this excellent eating place. The less than attractive street surroundings give little evidence of the warm welcome you will receive into this simply decorated restaurant. The food, was simple, cooked to perfection and we were helped in the translation by the owners lovely English speaking daughter in law. Thoroughly recommend as a stop off going to the Alps as an alternative to more southern towns.
