This is Haltwhistle’s most historic building. The oldest part of the hotel was a Border Reivers' Pele Tower, dating from the 15th Century. Later it became a Manor House, Excise Office, Coaching Inn, Post Office, Temperance Hotel, Pub and Cafe. In 1997 we completely refurbished the building, finding many archaeological and architectural features - many of which have been included in the presentation of the reborn Hotel. The result – a combination of modern comfort & Tradition. We have a total of 12 bedrooms, all individually designed many with original architectural features. All have private bathrooms and are equipped with TV, radio, direct dial telephones, hospitality trays and hair dryers. We have a secure car park at the rear of the hotel with direct access to the rearSo, there is something for everyone, but most of all a warm welcome with a relaxed style and atmosphere to make you feel at home.
My brother and I arrived at the Centre of Britain Hotel with our bicycles as part of a 3 day trip along the Hadrian's Wall Cycleway. Kirsty on reception was nothing short of brilliant. Warm, welcoming, efficient and well informed. She made storing our bikes so easy, and also cooked the most amazing dinner later that evening. What a star! The girls serving were great too, friendly but unobtrusive and efficient. And the food was fantastic. We had Room 6, out in the coach yard, part of a converted stable block, I think. It was amazing. Brilliantly cozy space, with underfloor bathroom heating and the beds on a little mezzanine floor. Really funky and different. Breakfast was outstanding. Quality ingredients and perfect service. Again, great professionalism from the staff. The lovely blonde lady in charge that morning (I didn't get her name ?) was equally helpful in the dining room and helping us again with our bikes, giving us a lovely personalised send off. In short, an utterly brilliant hotel, hiding its light under a bushel. We will be back with the first excuse we can get! Top, top marks on every front.

Ald white craig cottages are 5 self contained cottages, all of different sizes sleeping from two people up to 6 in a family. We are situated in the rolling countryside of northumberland very close to the roman wall and all its attractions Station pick up available .
I absolutely love staying here. I stayed here a few months ago with my daughter and we had a lovely little night so I decided to book it for myself for 2 nights. Susan is a little national treasure and is so helpful and friendly. The little cottage itself is so cosy. Perfect place if you are walking Hadrian’s wall or you are a fan of the wall as you are in the heart of Hadrian’s wall land and not far from a handful of forts and the wall itself. The property is a working farm but the animals are lovely and you never hear them at night. All in all it come highly recommended by me ?

We stayed at Ashcroft for 3 nights, which was a long awaited return after visiting at Easter the previous year. We have to say this is one of the best places we have stayed at - Ashcroft is lovely and the hosts Geoff and Christine are so very warm and welcoming. We felt very safe with the Covid measures they had set up. The various awards they have been given speak for themselves and they are very well deserved. The quality of the rooms are excellent and the breakfast delicious (lots of choices). They also have a lovely garden to sit in. We will readily visit again for walking Hadrian’s Wall and would thoroughly recommend Ashcroft. We found Haltwhistle residents very friendly and helpful and look forward to planning our next visit.

Very well converted Coaching Inn, offering seven all en-suite bedrooms, with two guests lounges, dining room, off street parking and safe and secure cycle storage, all rooms have beverage making facilities, central heating, flat screen televisions.
Does what it says on the tin (website). Milk, condiments, butter, sugar, preserves etc. all fresh / from real containers - no plastic pots or sachets. The building is large, yet cosy; our room was decorated to a high standard and we had a good night's sleep. There is a TV lounge (we didn't use), and an additional dining room, with microwave and crockery & cutlery, for takeaways. The breakfast was very good - wide choice, thoughtful touches, extra tea and toast offered. The staff and owner were friendly and helpful. As a bonus, Haltwhistle is a gem of a small town. I've walked along Hadrian's Wall, and up and down the South Tyne valley and Allendale for years, but had never visited Haltwhistle. I'll be coming back, hopefully staying at the Grey Bull.
