Excellent Hotel
Reviewed By cm19w5My cousin and I spent 1 week at this hotel and just recently left. We did not upgrade to Star Class and contrary to some other reviews if you do not have Star Class you will not be treated like a step child. We received a lot of attention from staff and any queries or questions we had they were quick to assist. We rented a Cabana for 2 days and had a spa treatment. We received a coupon booklet at check in for booking PH experiences. We got to eat at all restaurants on property. So overall we do not feel as though we missed out or anything at all by not upgrading to Star Class. The rooms were clean and modern. The closet door was broken once reported someone came to fix it with 5 minutes and we never had a problem after. The staff were super friendly and accommodating 24/7. Truly a happy bunch. Shout to to Dillan, from the pool wait team and Negar from the entertainment team. The only con, I would say is that the resort is in a bit more isolated part of Liberia and entertainment and everything else ceases at 11pm. So if you are someone who loves nightlife and partying this is not the resort for you.

Whether sitting by the pool or beach, walking the trails, or partying it up play the pool bar with Henry. It’s plenty clean and well kept. Loved the hills, served a substitute for working out. The guys at the beach were not that bad at all, you tell them no and they stop asking. Actually Leo was very helpful to us and we went on a great jet ski tour with his company. If you are looking for the four seasons it’s right across the bay. But if your looking for a well kept beautiful property with an A+ staff to take care of anything you need and have a great time meeting other like minded fun loving people, THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!! PURA VIDA

Beautiful property with Great customer service overall
Reviewed By Nadya CWe stayed 5 nights here during our 3 week trip to Costa Rica from mid may to early June. We started the first 3 days of the trip off at the resort and ended the last 2 days there. We were really impressed with the first stay which is why we returned. The service and consistency was definitely better the 1st stay. Although the staff were super friendly and attentive both times, the hotel seemed to be busier with business groups and this property definitely caters to the groups more. For instance, some restaurants or boat service to the beach club were unavailable for a few days because they were reserved for company groups. Breakfast showed the most inconsistency, as some days it could take 20 minutes after being seated to get a waiter and menus. Some days our kids pancakes would come with great toppings and some days just plain pancakes or some days our breakfast would come out with everything, and others we had to remind them of the potatoes and bacon, etc that was listed with the entree. The Pros: All employees were great, didn't meet one that wasn't personable and friendly Great rooms and AMAZING SHOWERS -Nice pools -The service was always very friendly and professional, they remembered us from 3 weeks earlier and remembered the kids names -The gym was nice - Nice steam room in the spa that you can use even if you don't have a spa service - The massage rooms are lovely and the deep tissue massage was excellent -Golf carts and Nice to take you around - Snacks, and drinks in rooms can be refreshed -Hats and sandals to keep were a nice little treat -Managers will make things right when there is a lapse in service Cons: Stuff discussed above -The lower rooms can be noisy if rowdy groups are walking around -beach is ok -Most Tv Chanels are in Spanish (I didn't care but kids did) - There is construction of new buildings, but you only see and hear it when you exit or walk past buildings 1 and 2 Would return in the off season

A good stay, but for the price it should be exceptional
Reviewed By Miles TI stayed for a night in May and we had a pleasant stay. The rooms were tasteful with a lot of great touches and we had a great meal at Nemia (sp?). The location is nice and the staff were all very helpful, as you would expect. The electric bikes are a good way to explore. However, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Nothing really stood out in the way it normally does when you're in the $1500+ a night bracket. The activities were fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. Same with the views from the rooms and pool, as well as breakfast and lunch at the grill. I don't think this will stick in my memory the same way as e.g. the Belmond Caruso did.

Reviewed By PoioChanchoI stayed at the Occidental Papagayo with my family , and had a magnificent time. The facilities are beautiful and the view is amazing. The staff was polite and the entertainment crew was super nice , they work as a team to keep you busy and make sure you have nothing but fun . I'm definitely visiting again in the near future . Improvements I'd like to see ... Maybe some sort of app where you can make reservations for the restaurants , see and enroll for the activities .

They were especially helpful when our flights were cancelled and we need to add an additional night at the hotel. Thank you Angelica! Caesar was very helpful as well. We ate at all of the restaurants during our stay and I have to say the food was outstanding. The rooms were nice and clean. Nothing fabulous but clean. The hotel is an older hotel and needs a lot of TLC. This hotel would have received 5 stars however after a visit to their spa we were all very disappointed. I would rate the spa services below average. First, the towels and robes are old and frayed. Second, the staff was not adequately trained. Very disappointed in their spa services. After all this being said a lot of made up for due to the staff just being outstanding! Marriott has great ambassadors at this hotel. I would love Marriott to really devote additional resources to this hotel as it would be a true asset to them in Costa Rica!

This Resort has two swimming pools, two jacuzzis, two wet bars, a Sports Bar, two restaurants, spa services, concierge, among other services.

The windows don't seal shut, and the drawers are slightly warped and you have to slam them to get them to stay closed. We usually didn't have hot water to take showers, but of course it was 95 degrees outside so I guess didn't really matter. The lights in the rooms are also very dim for some reason so its just dark at night. The beds were pretty comfortable. With all that said, the AC worked great and the rooms were large and very clean. Housekeeping did a outstanding job every day. The grounds are beautiful. The pools are lovely and are cleaned every day. There are howler monkeys always around and beautiful birds. There isn't much of a lobby and no AC so it's not that pleasant during the day to spend any time there. The hotel staff was AMAZING. Like beyond! There wasn't anything they wouldn't do for you. The beach wasn't that pretty. Its a public beach and no lounge chairs or anything. W went for a walk a few times that's.about it. If you aren't overly fussy, the hotel is perfectly fine. Especially if you are spending your days doing activities and trips. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was great and like I said the AC in the rooms was perfect! The newer rooms were much nicer so I would book there.

Reviewed By Lucy0117The place needs an update, the roads inside the hotel/village are destroyed with potholes or not paved at all and it has poor lightning. Stayed at the apartments and they look runned down, old comforters and hard mattress, old utensils in the kitchen. WiFi was not working that day. Just booked another hotel to enjoyed vacation.

Reviewed By Ksheth07Worst expedience ever the room was never cleaned the toilets shower really dirty they didn't have a clean bed sheets they didn't have comforter they didn't have electricity there were many bugs crawling all over the floor they turned off electricity after 10:30 and never turned it back on we couldn't sleep for even an hour they rented out some rooms for partying all night long it was the worst experience ever please all these booking sites should remove this hotel as it is not a resort its not even a 1 star hotel.. please do not go here.
