Founded in 1930, Bar Berta is a typical and traditional sites of Taxco city. It owes its name to Mrs. Berta Estrada , who prepared for the first time in this place, with its original recipe , which years later would become the typical cocktail of Taxco :

Order a Berta (lime soda, tequila and secret ingredients) you are in for a fantastic afternoon!!!Thanks for your comments. We have been to this restaurant throughout the years - mostly because we can trust the food! We found a very changed menu - even included "sliders" - which we found unsettling given that we expected more Mexican traditional food! I guess they are trying hard to cater to the international tourist! The menu choices were pretty limited and although the food was just average, the presentation was really top notch! And you can be pretty sure that, since this is a hotel restaurant, that cleanliness and food prep are probably pretty well watched by the staff.

If you're looking to try Mezcal while in Taxco, this is the place. When I asked the bartender to recommend a Mezcal, he went straight for the cheapest on the menu, so you know you're not just getting taken for tourist prices. In addition to over a dozen regional Mezcal bottles, they have 10 or so "curados" that are house made infusions in some exotic flavors. My wife enjoyed the Curado Oriental. All other patrons were locals and are super friendly in explaining local and regional tidbits, such as the background behind the salts made with worms and other medicinal insects.
