We had a 4 night 5 day incredible experience at Wakü Lodge in Canaima. Truely one of the most beautiful and fullfilling experiences in a jungle resort we ever had anywhere. The 30 something cabanas resort on the shore of the Canaima lagoon is beautifully kept with lush gardens and fabulous views of the waterfalls and Tepuy mountains behind it. The manager Jennifer (J-Lo) runs a tight ship with dedicated and eager to please staff who make your stay there wonderful and relaxing. The Hotel has a large covered lobby and restaurants and the Venezuelan jungle is noticible everywhere. The grounds and gardens are kept beautifully, the resident pet monkeys Lisa (a baby howler) and Abu (a baby capauchin) playfully interact with staff and guests and playfight with the other resident animals such as dog puppy “Chocolate” and 8 guacamaya (macaws), many smaller parrots who have claimed the lobby as their territory. A resident Tapir, a few resident Koati’s and two large birds called Kevin and Debbie wander the grounds and remind you you are in their jungle. The rooms are large, airconditioned and have a good bathroom with a great hot water shower. The breakfast restaurant and seperate dinner restaurant have tasteful fittings and furniture and amazing views of the waterfalls too. I recommend a massage also with the sound of the waterfalls in the background. The activities are plentiful: On day one you can take a tour on a small narrow speed boat (curiara) for about 2 hours to and around the waterfalls of Canaima Lagoon with the Chaman who will then take you on a hike to the waterfalls to a viewpoint where you can see the Falls fully and walk behind them. An amazing experience. The full day trio to Angel Falls is amazing. It starts with an early early rise (0400h) and a 5 hour boat trip up river (in wet season when the river is high enough) to the basecamp, then a 3km hike up to the base of the Angel Falls and a view and experience of the falls that is unforgettable. The hike back down is even tougher but satisfying, and the 3 hour down river trip back very very relaxing. During the trips the experienced guides explain everything and help you enjoy the trip fully. Back at the lodge you truely appeciate the attention to detail that the owner (Mari) and staff have put into the decorations and atmospherics. Beautiful vases with flowers, indiginous art and baskets, many accessories and ornaments that make your stay there fulfilling. An adventure of a lifetime, fully worth the value for money. Wakü Lodge and its staff (human and animal) really made our trip unforgettable. Alex Oosterwijk

A new full comfort hotel, in the center of Santa Elena de Uairen from where you can have any tour to the Gran Sabana, Roraima, Angel falls aso... Price of the rooms begin at 35 $ per night. Hot water, drinkable water, air conditioned, parking, free internet wifi
HOT WATER! Did I mention HOT WATER! Even the pricey Eurobuilding in Caracas didn't have hot water. Posada l"auberge had some of the hottest water I've experienced in a 3rd world hotel. It's the perfect place to come after a grueling hike at Roraima. This hotel is located in the heart of the tourist / backpacker / trekker area of the city. It's safe (well-protected by 4 dogs and a locked gate), the owner (originally from France) and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Down the street is a wonderful little store which sells drinks and snacks. Out front is a street vendor which makes morning cafe' and cooks fresh empanadas. Restaurants are all within a block's distance. The room has TV, aircon, wifi, and a fridge. I wish I could have taken l'Auberge around with me in Venezuela so I had a wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend this hotel.

Upon arrival at the camp, you will be shown to your private rooms. After lunch you will experience the wild and natural habitat of the virgin forest making a brief tour of the river banks. At the end of the day return to the camp and a delicious dinner and rest. If you wish, you can take a dip in the river or just sit back and watch one of the fabulous sunsets on the delta. After a delicious dinner you will have the opportunity to enjoy the silence of the Orinoco River and listen to the dolphins, some days playing in front of the camp.
Largely deserted but nevertheless still felt good. We were very well looked after in this fantastic camp. Accommodation was great, some of the rooms on the outside of the camp have the most amazing views over the river to the mountains. Clean, compact rooms. Food was excellent, there were 6 of us, 3 with special dietary requirements and all were dealt with, with no fuss. Great base for exploring and trips.

This Lodge was built in 2006 and is one of the three hotels located directly on the beach of the famous Canaima Lagoon, one of the most beautiful places in Venezuela. From the beach you will have a stunning view over the various waterfalls and the majestic Table-top Mountains “Cerro Venado” and “Cerro Kursari”. The lodge has been built according to the typical Indigenous style to fit into the landscape, combining tradition with modern life. “Tapuy“ means “roof of a big palm tree” in Pemon language. Spend some time in our rustic restaurant or the bar in an indigenous-style Churuata, just a few steps away from the rooms. Our staff will spoil you with national, international or indigenous-style meals. There are 16 superior rooms that have been tastefully decorated and include air conditioning and a fan. Bathrooms are fully equipped and include a bathtub and all amenities.
I don't recomend to stay this hotel because No1 Not friendly hotel staff. (The some hotel staff were also hold the post of Angell fall tour guide) We felt they were not really friendly and kind. For example, we sometime asked question about the tour schedule and content but they just said “wait a moment” and went to somewhere else. No2 Slow Response. (Nobody in the reception around 22pm and we were trying to find somebody hotel staff and found the room where hotel related person was staying) We asked to change the room because of bellow No3, but the person didn’t come back even though we were waiting about 40minutes so we went to the room again but nobody answered. We were looking for the person in the other hotel site and found the person. Finally our room was changed. No3 Broken Toilet. The toilet was not flush No4 No Shuttle. Hotel staff came to Canaima airport to pickup us but shuttle service was not offered. The distance from airport to the hotel was not far but the road was not paved and there was many puddle therefore we needed to lift up and brought the suitcase. The price is higher than Tapuy lodge but I highly recommend to stay Waku lodge. The tour guide from Waku lodge was very friendly and kind person. (We were joining the tour which was operated by the staff of Tapuy lodge but we met the guide from Waku lodge in some tour place). Shutlle was operated properly.

Parakaupa Lodge with 12 churuatas (rooms) all with private bathroom, hot water and fan. Parakaupa has a good restaurant including all meals and drinks. Here you will find complete peace and intense air typical of tropical rainforest and unique native flora, and within walking distance of the lagoon. Parakaupa Field has over 20 years experience in receiving customers and show them the beauty of Canaima. Its owner, Mr. Juan Jimenez came when he was young. Living here has learned the importance of preserving the environment and the Pemon community of his generation and the next. This camp offers personalized service with typical Venezuelan food and a multipurpose room for parties, meetings, weddings or conferences. In addition, this camp is privileged to enjoy exotic gardens with fruit trees, flowers and wonderful views of the Lagoon of Canaima.
We connected with this campamento through a travel agent in Caracas, but I wish we would have found them directly. After the travel agent completely screwed us in our reservation and tours, the staff at Campamento Parakaupa helped us resolve everything and they didn't take advantage of us in our vulnerable situation. The travel agent told us that we had a confirmed tour of Salto Sapo and Salto Angel, but never actually set up the tour for Salto Angel. After having a great tour of Salto Sapo with our guide, Jose, we learned that the travel did nothing to set up a tour of Angel Falls. We talked with the tour agent and explained that we would never had traveled all of the way to Canaima without seeing the main attraction, but he continued to tell us that we had told him we didn't want to make a tour of the highest waterfall in the world. It was a disaster and we thought we were screwed. Cristina and Jose came to the rescue and secured us a spot on an overnight tour the next day to Angel Falls. They even refunded the costs for one night's stay at the campamento since we would be sleeping at the falls. They had no reason to help us (and lose some of the business we had with them), but they worked for an hour or two to set up the tour with another company and making sure it was a fair price. They even drove us to the other company's site the next day and held our hands through the process to make sure everything went okay. We can never thank them enough for salvaging our visit to Canaima and Angel Falls. With all of the travelling I have done across the world, I have rarely found a group of people as honest, understaning, sympathetic, and helpful as the staff at Campamento Parakaupa. They waited with us at the airport until our flight to make sure there were no hitches in the rest of our time in Canaima. The campamento itself is very nice: large rooms, modern and well built private baths, nice beds, excellent common areas, strong airconditioning, and a great location and site. I was surprised at how nice the campamento was and the competitive price. Of course, the staff, cooking, and personalized service was top notch. The views of the surrounding tepui and the laguna was beautiful. If you are going to Canaima, I would highly recommend this campamento. You will not be disappointed!

Formed by 7 tipical cabins with 2 rooms, hot and cold water / PORCH, in the center is a large Churuata with restaurant and receptionsdesk. The site is bordered by an creek and a lush rainforest. A beautifool swwimmjngpool invites for an refreshing swimm in healthy water without chlorine, Aqualux purification system, all in an special atmosphere and promises a pleasant stay You can come from Brasil. The next city Boavista / RR is close with conections all over.
Yakoo Lodge is perfectly set at the top of a hill, right in town but away from the bustle of Santa Elena. The rooms are large and comfortable and you are surrounded by nature at every turn. The food is fantastic and there is plenty of it, and staff were fantastic. We stayed two nights, one before and one after our trek to Roraima and we couldn't have been happier.

My Sister and I stayed at the Arekuna Lodge in early November and I can't praise the place highly enough. It's beautifully located high on the banks of the Caroni River giving you fantastic panoramic views, I find it hard to understand why so few Brits want to visit. On your way in you'll quickly realise this place is only reachable by air and my what a landing you're in for, our guide told us to get ready for an interesting landing and we weren't disappointed! I guess the most accurate way to describe the runway would be how you'd imagine landing in the Australian Outback, it was brilliant! The camp itself is very eco friendly, they use solar panels to generate enough power for lighting from 6pm - 10.30pm, after that it's movement by torchlight only :) They also use a neat condensation trick to purify the river water so it can be safely drunk (tasted better than bottled mineral water). The rooms are completely open air, which is delightful since it's pretty hot and humid there; but have no fear, every inch is meshed in to stop the mossies attacking. Our room had three beds and a hammock across the room, the hammock was soooooo relaxing, you want to fall asleep the moment you lie back in it. Just a word of warning though, there is only cold water at the camp, which means a cold shower - honestly, it's really very refreshing. The food at Arekuna was exceptional, or at least I liked it. I guess if you have dietary requirements or are vegetarian you might struggle, as there's no choice to the three course meal provided, just what is served to your table. We decided not to drink any alcohol whist at the camp as it was priced quite high, some people complained about this, but forget that alcohol is a luxury there and has to be flown in especially. If you like waterfalls, then you won't be disappointed by Las Babas, they're fabulous and very refreshing should you choose to take a dip. We were lucky enough to view a magnificent sunset and then later watched the stars and planets, they were so bright and clear as there were no lights or pollution to spoil the night sky. Just one small thing to mention, the camp has quite steep paths up to the restaurant, so if you have difficulties walking, this might not be the trip for you.

The beautiful Orinoquia Lodge was built in 2005 and is set along the banks of the Orinoco River between the Atures and Maipures rapids. Because of its extraordinary Indigenous architectural style and its splendid position directly next to the river, this lodge is one of the most beautiful ones in Venezuela. Accommodations are set in so-called Churuatas, small Indigenous-style huts tiled with Moriche palm tree leaves, built on a huge granite rock and from natural materials that perfectly harmonize with the surroundings. Right on the banks is the main Churuata, where our restaurant is located, as well as a bar & lounge. The view over the majestic Orinoco is marvelous. Enjoy the atmosphere in our garden and listen to the sounds of the jungle. There are 12 small two-story Churuatas with double and triple rooms. 9 of them provide a view over the Orinoco. All rooms are equipped with a fan and a mosquito net. They all have private bathrooms. The lodge only provides cold water.
The camp is in front of the Orinoco River. Just watch the shore and the river is amazing. The lodge has 11 cabins with private with a spacious bathroom king bed or individual. Alejandro and Anji are very nice people and they are in charge of this beautiful place. I strongly recommend this camp hotel with their people. The owners of Casa trópical is helping to keep this awesome places around Venezuela. You won’t regret visit any of them. If you are looking for a placer to relax and have adventure don’t hesitate to come to Orinokianlodge. For us 7 days here were really good and food spot all Perfect.

KAMOIRAN Fantastic adventure. I consider my stay there as an adventure. Great place in the middle of nowhere, breathtaking views, lots of pure nature around, beautiful waterfalls, etc. The electricity all over the camp comes from the power unit which they switch off after 11PM so take some torch with you if you do not want to go to sleep earlier. An interesting thing- they have wireless internet connection over there (satellite I suppose). Be aware of the fact that you stay on Gran Sabana so some strange creatures can appear in your room. But you can always call one of the friendly Indians who run this camp to remove it from your room. But if I were you, I would leave alone the small lizards sitting on the wall- not only do they no harm but also they eat mosquitoes and tiny flies called Puri-puri. These insects are much worse than mosquitoes, there are lots of them on Gran Sabana. The food that is served in Kamoiran is one of the best I tasted during my stay in Venezuela. It is only 100 km from Brazilian border- worth to visit.
