Really good chifrijo, cold beer, a little dirty but is a dive bar so all good. The staff is attentive and always willing to acomódate anything out of the menu.

Located on the highway to Limón. A pleasant atmosphere. Clean restaurant. Popular for locals. Ideal for breakfast or lunch. There are several options of natural juices, fruits and beverages. They serve a large buffet with many options of typical food of Costa Rica. Good prices. Recommended.

La Marisqueria Mar Azul has a very casual atmosphere with few embellishments, but the food is amazing and a great value. It's very popular with the locals. I would definitely recommend the patacones con guacamole!! I split the rice with shrimp plate with a friend and it was more than enough for both of us. Not a tourist spot at all - but that's part of the appeal.

The breakfast buffet closed too early, they stop serving at 9:00. I think they should consider pushing it at least 30 more minutes, because there is heavy traffic going out of San Jose in the early morning. On the other hand, they have quick service, and their french toast was really good.

La Trocha is built like a pirate ship. It’s no surprise seafood is a specialty. Aaron loved his mariscada en salsa jalapena, 5950 colones. I enjoyed the casado vegetarian--especially the potato salad, 3400. Our total bill including a Diet Coke and Tropical Te Verde was 11,350 colones, or about $21.21.

There are many traditional open kitchen fog (wood fired) in Costa Rica, but El Fogon de Lola is the very best, with a wide selection of typical food at very affordable prices. Perfect for a stop between San José and the Caribbean. Service is friendly and rather quick. In many occasions, the owner passes by the tables and offers additional gallo pinto.

My husband found this place online and we decided to check it out one afternoon while shopping in Guacimo. Ray greeted us and was super helpful and friendly. The restaurant is very nicely done with tiled floors and comfortable table and chairs. Of course, the...MoreThank you very much! We were totally pleased to have you here. In Guápiles center, very good food, excellent service. The place looks like all places in Guápiles, a little run down, but the food exceeded our expectations. Not a place for tipical or Caribean food, but very good international food. Kids friendly.

We needed a quick bite so we dropped in for a meal. The waiter was awesome and really wanted to help the gringo's! We had a fish dinner plus spaghetti and it was cooked to perfection. Worth a stop.

We were on a road trip from the north rain forest to the south and there was a lot of construction along the way. We stopped at Valverd’s mostly because we were done with the road construction and there was a long line of cars. What a find. We split the Casado fajitas de pollo 4200 (about $8), it was enough of us. It was a very nice restaurant and I would stop there again. The wait staff was a little slow but the food was great and I’m glad we stopped.
