We visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening. We had made a reservation, but this was not neccesary. There were enough emplty tables. When we arrived we received the menu chart and ordered some drinks that were delivered within a few minutes. It took about 25 minutes before a someone of the staff came to take our orders for our dinner. We had our meal on the table 1 hours after we had arrived. To be honest we did not understand why it took so long. There was more than enough staff if you look at the number of guests. Our dinner was good no remarks about that, but the service could have been better.

We filled the restaurant for a fixed menu dinner that comprised many small plates. How the kitchen did such a suburb job in timing, presentation and quality I am amazed. The staff were great, dealing with guests from at least a dozen countries, and none of us speak Dutch. All in all this was a stunning success and I expect every meal that comes out of this kitchen would be perfect.

I dined with two friends who are big fans of this restaurant. Between their rave reviews and the 6-month plus waiting list, I was expecting something pretty mind-blowing. Maybe those heightened expectations were the source of my disappointment. First off, I am not a fan of the whole bread/beverage self-serve approach. It is fine for a low-priced cafeteria, but when youâre paying around 80+ Euros per head, I would like someone to serve me so that I can focus on my dinner companions. Just a preference, of course. I could have overlooked this preference had the food wowed me. But it did not. While some of the flavors were definitely unique, I found them neither nuanced nor delightful. Rather, I found them overplayed and heavy on the palate. I also didnât find the ingredients outstanding. Iâm a fan of the small restaurant and verrassingsmenu concept. But given the price point and the other outstanding dining options in Groningen, I wouldnât go back for a second meal.

In the centre of Groningen, you will find De Pijp Wine & Dine. The restaurant where they serve honest en fresh dishes. The chef is inspired by the most beautiful products of the world. In our own meat cabinet, we ripe our own beef, that we serve as a stea
I ate twice at this place and both dinners were excellent. The steak (bavette) was high-quality meat grilled to perfection. The wine list is very good and prices quite reasonable (perhaps under the influence of New York I found the prices rather surprisingly, and pleasantly, low). On weekends, you may have to make a reservation since it looks like a place where couples and families would go out for a special occasion.

The place offers menus of 4-7 courses with or without wine and the rest is a surprise , where in our case we gave them some restrictions of some of us do not eat. This they took into account, at times substituting A for B for the person concerned. The food was well prepared, elegantly arranged, tasty and, beware, small portion (excellent for people like me), with mostly well-chosen wines to go with each course if you choose the with wine option. At ~ 80 Euro for 5 courses with wine/person this is not cheap but not expensive either, esp. as it is a culinary experience (time flies; we were there for 3.5 hrs, without really noticing that time wnwnetet by!)

I chose this restaurant for my b-day dinner and did not regret that. Stylish and at the same time casual and cosy this place offers a great food experience. There is no fixed menu there, but they create a selection of dishes which is changed weekly. Seasonal and local ingredients all freshly prepared for you - really amazing. Great service. I do not eat meat so I told that when we were making reservations, and there was no awkward moment, my husband got his meat dishes, I got fish) It is nice to inform, since the restaurant kinda decides your menu for you)))) To sum this all up - definitely recommend this place!

This restaurant is a fantastic experience.... We were two couples, who visited Houdt van Eten and we had great expectations after reading the restaurants reviews, and we were definitely not disappointed. We had a 5 course Dinner that blew us away, including a 5 course wine menu, an extra bottle of wine, and fantastic service from a young guy, and the price was only 60 Euro per person. An extra nice feature at this restaurant is, that they have an open kitchen, so you can follow the making of your Dinner....
